    New wool pad idea

For those of you with extensive experience with wool...I was wondering what your thoughts were on this design - basically, I'd like to get someone to make a lambswool pad glued to a foam pad. Reasoning: I really like the very limited shedding of the flat lambswool pads, but they aren't easy...

    Gardeners suck! Ford GT.

My worst nightmare when performing a mobile detail is to have the gardeners show up. I even hate it when the show up to the neighbor's house, cuase the freaken stir dirt up everwhere with their blowers. If you look at the pic, you will see the guy with the lawnmower getting as close as he could...

    Jaguar wetsanding and correction

Here are the second pictures I've taken with my new camera. In addition to having 10 years worth of washing scratches (never been detailed since repainted 10 years ago), this vehicle had some areas of poor paint and finishing work...the panel shown actually had some funky paintwork going on...

Lexus SC430...first pics with my new camera

Okay guys...finally got a camera so I can take some pics (other than with my lousy camera phone). Below are picture of a Lexus I did a couple days agao. I gave the owner a demo of my paint restoration abilities by putting a tape like down the middle of the door panel and polishing one side...

    Lexus SC430

Finally remembered to bring my new camera with me a couple days ago (too bad I didn't bring it when I did a beat down black Ford GT yesterday)... .:hmph: Usually blue doesn't show scratches like black, but this Lexus had seen it's fair share of rough washes. Did a three step rotary...

Compounding painted plastics, fiber glass, and carbon fiber

Kind of an experts topic here...so bare with me. I was wondering if anyone has every had any problems polishing plastic, fiberglass, or carbon fiber painted surfaces with respect to over heating and causing the paint to shrivel (of course this applies to rotary usage)? This issue was pointed...

    Yellow Pages are worthless

This year I decided to pony up $400 for a small add in the yellow book (even though all the advice I had gotten told me not to). Well, I just wanted to reaffirm for those considering this form if advertisement that it is not money well spent, not at all. The only calls I ever get are price...

    ETG Testing Results of Compounding

I wanted to share my test results with others on this board, and because it takes so long to conduct the tests, I was also hoping that other Autopians with an ETG would peform their own similar tests. THE TEST: Measure how much clear is removed using various compounds, polishes, and pads with...

    Found a Good Filler Glaze

First, most of yall that know me know that I'm not a big fan of fillers; I rather prefer to permanently remove swirls and marring through proper polishing, but us professionals are not always paid enough to do so and hobbiest don't always have enough time...so there are times a good filler wax...

    Dealership Strikes Again, Again

I just detailed this new BMW 750Li. Though it had a couple bad washes mixed in, the buffer swirls on this baby were installed by the same dealership that installed them on the thread I started a while back "dealership strikes again." This time there weren't soo bad, but they were quite noticable...

    BMW black...very "workable" paint

I've done 3 buff jobs on black BMWs this month, and something has come to my realization - it is the most "correctable" and "workable" paint I know of. Using the rotary and my "magic" combo of the Green American Buffing (P2) pad and PO106FF, I don't even have to "nurse" the buffer to get it to...

    Magic Eraser Extra Power Pads

For those of you who use the Magic Eraser pads for exterior trim and interior detailing, I have found that the "Extra Strength" pads last about 3 times as long and are well woth the extra change. The regular strength pads just tear and break down way too easily. Happy cleaning.

    CCS "dimples" gimmic

Just wondering if anybody is buying into the "dimples" gimmic on the new CCS pads? Don't mean to put people on the spot or anything...but I'm pretty sure it's just a way to generat hype...kinda like their LCVC design, or the flowered design of the American Buffing/Propel pads (which I love)...

    Underappreciated Profession

I've come to the conclusion that we are in an underappreciated profession. Sure, most of my clients are awesome and are the exception, but still, as a whole it is not well rewarded. Seriously, most good plummers, elictricians, carpenters, realtors, pool cleaners, etc. make a bunch more money...

    Orange CCS

I kinda like the looks of the orange CCS pad. Per this thread (http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-product-discussion/82381-if-u-could-design-pad.html), I indicated that I though the orange foam needed to be coupled with a softer foam underneath for rotary use...and I've had good luck with the...

    Oh my god!

Just shoot me before I agree to do another overspray removal job like this one...actually it was okay, I just under bid the job is all. Massive amounts of overspray everywhere...on every panel, in every crack. I had help on this one and we probably spent 6 hours claying. Still not done -...

If U Could Design a Pad?

I was curious if anyone else had any good ideas for pads? Personally, I think the perfect polishing pad (for rotary anyway) already exists in the form of the Green American Buffing (AKA Propel II) pad - flat design, does not sling, highly flexible/maneuverable/conforming, low heat...

    Destroyed NSX

Alright, I finally got around to emailing myself a couple of the camera phone pics I took of that NSX I was talking about the other day...the one where they guy told me it has light swirls, only to find out he repainted over half the panels himself (used to own a bodyshop) and then proceeded to...

    Horrendous NSX

Pretty crazy story... Yesterday was rough - detailed a black NSX that was is worse shape than I ever could have imagined (I'll post pics as soon as the gallery is back up). Basically, I gave they guy my price sheet which clearly shows that I perform 1-step through 5-step buff jobs...he chose...

    Clay Bar Idea

Maybe we need to let Clay Magic aware that their current clay is sub-par in hopes that they would start having elastic-clay produced. Okay, I know most people (in most areas of the country) can use a clar bar for a month (or more), but I go through a couple per week due to the heavy...
