    A product you almost trashed?

What is something you ended up giving a second chance and grew to love? For me, it was OCW. I tried it initially on two lighter colored cars and was ready to get rid of it. Compared to AW it was a total dud. Then I got a darker colored car and this stuff is amazing where AW looks flat.

OTC Products that are better than most boutique brands?

So there have been quite a few threads about good OTC stuff. How about products that are OTC and are better than most mail order stuff regardless of price? My votes: Collinite IW845 - One of the few products that I've almost finished a bottle of. Durability AND protection goes on for...

    Problems with Optiseal and OCW

I'm worried my paint might drip down onto the garage floor tonight.... ONR is such a gateway drug... I made the leap top Optiseal and OCW, very happy with the results.

    UPGP slickness?

I tried UPGP for the first time Saturday. Washed>megs 105>IPA wipedown and then followed by UPGP. I applied it fairly sparringly, about 1 spritz per panel. Is this stuff supposed to feel slick? Even the next day the paint doesn't feel as slick as say AW or OCW. It looks great. However it...

Scratch Repair - Wetsanding Clear Touchup

So I'm playing around with repairing some deeper scratches by filling them in with base and then clear touchup paint. I'm wetsanding afterward. The problem I'm running into is the clear keeps chipping off when it gets thin making the repair look bad. I'm prepping the surface with denatured...

The PC just doesn't work anymore....

It seems like a lot of people are pushing the rotary and saying the PC can't be used for correction. Quite a change from autopia of a few years back. I've seen several threads where people say its ok for a newbie to start with a rotary if they are careful. Two points I'd like to make and then...

I hate that I like a TW product (ICE liquid clay)....

The liquid clay is pretty awesome for removing mild oxidation. I just used it on my beater that was getting almost to the point of being chalky. It removed the mild oxidation, the paint was almost shiney afterwards. Followed it with #66 on the rotary and then some 476 by hand. Two hours to...

Free Stuff - NOVA - Leesburg, you pick up all

http://www.datasmuggler.com/ebay/waxes.jpg Bunch of stuff I don't want/need/use. Most of the bottles are full or almost full. Some are unopened. You take the whole lot and put it to good use. First one that picks it up, gets it. Not parting out, not shipping, not giving out more...

    What's at BigLots?

I try to avoid going to BL, but they do have some smoking deals every once in a while. Anything interesting in the detailing section recently? Its been about six months or more since I've stopped by.

Getting a good chuckle from all the hype?

Anyone else get a good laugh out of all the hype when a new wax comes out? Its been a while since I've been back to the forum, maybe a year? I'm happy with my #21, #26, and #845. Sure I've got a whole box of other LSPs, but those are the ones I keep coming back to. Some days, I wonder if I...

    Spray Waxes... Pointless?

I'm really starting to wonder what the point of a spray on wax is versus a liquid wax. I've used Meguiars Quick Wax and NXT Speed Wax. I'd rather just apply #26 or NXT. The only time savings to me seems to be spraying it is faster than tilting the bottle upside down. Am I missing something?

    Dawn Power Dissolver

I finally found something that will remove NXT from foam pads! I tried regular dawn before and the NXT just laughed at it. It just turned into wet sludge. I found some Power Dissolver under the sink, sprayed and left for 15 minutes, the purple pad that comes with the NXT paste looks like new...

    Etching with a carnauba?

Anyone have any issues with etched water spots or bird droppings with REGULAR carnauba applications? I have not, but I have with a sealant. Just curious if what I'm seeing off base.

    Solvent in #16?

Anyone know what the solvent is in #16. Just wondering what I could use to soften it up for a "project"

    WOWO Canuaba Only?

Are there any WOWO booster waxes that are carnuaba only? I'd like to avoid anything with any polymers or other synthetic wonders to top regular carnauba wax.

How do you compare the look of a wax/sealant/LSP?

I've tried various ways of comparing the looks of a particular wax/sealant to another. I've tried small squares (hood divided into up to 8 squares), small squares surround by just polished paint, and 1/2 hood comparisons. Maybe I need glasses, but I don't see a whole heck of a lot of...

    Post rain cleaning w/QEW.

It just finished raining here, I figured I'd go dry the car off (had just a bit of dust yesterday) when I figured I could do a mini QEW. I have a garden sprayer full of QEW at 50% more concentration than recommended for the bucket, I use it to pre-soak and stuff. I figured I'd just srpay the...

Pictures of a well polished car?

A lot of newbies that join this forum always ask about "the best wax" etc. I was wondering if anyone has some pics of a well polished car with NO LSP on it. IMO a well polished car looks fantastic, the LSP can add a bit to the look, but lets be honest, good prep is king. I think it would be...
