Could someone explain the differences? By mechanical, does that mean a little bit of clear coat is being removed to remove surface defects like swirls? By chemical, does this mean that surface defects like scratches can't be removed and this is only good for removing stains, and oxidation?

For those who haven't experimented, I find that S&W is good for a lot of things other then just for paint. I've had good results with using S&W on leather and soft/hard vinyl. I always follow up my S&W cleaning with 303 to condition and restore what S&W took off.
