    What's your ULTIMATE product combination?

As per the title really. I was thinking yesterday when I was doing my 1 Series how many of us Autopians pick and choose what products we use on a car depending on what we are trying to achieve and what we are detailing - depth of shine vs. reflectivness (is that actually a word?!:nixweiss)...

    BMW 120d Sport

Finally got the chance to do my car today. It had dealer inflicted swirls on it from new but I haven't had the time to get them out - until now! The light was really poor by the time I finished (and it had been raining) so the pictures aren't that great, but it gives you an idea! I did notice...

    Cleaning around badges?

How the hell do you do it?! Is it a case of using those cotton bud things or is there a simple spray on/rinse off product that would get rid of the muck that gets inbetween the letters etc? Would somthing like APC+ get rid of it? I woud consider Simple Green but I think that's too harsh to...

    #16 over EX-P

If you used this combo, do you need to leave the EX-P to "cure" before applying the #16 (or whatever other topper one might use) or can you apply it straight away? I'm thinking of doing VM, EX-P and #16 on a friends car and just want to make sure I'm not going to be wasting time. Thanks, Ben.

Customers who only want a "quick" wax?

I'm not sure whether this should be here on in the product discussion forum so feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place. If you have a customer who literally only wants a "wash/wax", what process do you guys use? Would something like Megs #6 or #66 do the trick? As much as it pains...

My first paid detail - BMW M3 CSL

A friend of mine who is notorioulsy bad at cleaning his car offered to pay me to go and do it instead. He just wanted it washed but that's not particularly Autopian so I said I'd do him "mates rates" on a full detail (exterior only). As a few of my products hadn't arrived by the time I did it...

What to use when clay doesn't work?

I detailed a Mini Cooper S over the weekend and didn't believe for one minute before I started that it was going to take 9 hours! On closer inspection however I noticed that the entire right hand side of the car and the hood was covered in tiny black specs. No problem I thought, I'll just get...

EX or EX-P over Vanilla Moose?

Just a quick question that's come about because I'm getting slightly confused with the whole subject of bonding! I see a lot of people use EX-P over VM with outstanding results, however my question is this: If most sealants don't bond well to oily products, how come EX-P goes so well on top...

    Detailing a car with stickers

I'm detailing a friend of mine's Mini Cooper S at the weekend that has the stick on bonnet stripes. Are there any do's and don'ts about polishing over them, around them, near them etc with a PC? I figured if they're in good nick (i.e. not showing signs of peeling at the edges) then going...

Pad aggressiveness - Sonus vs Megs

I've got the Sonus Orange, Green and Blue pads, and also the Megs Polishing (Yellow) and Finishing (Beige) pads. I was just wondering in what order people would rate them in terms of aggressiveness? I was thinking (most aggressive first): Sonus Orange Megs Yellow Sonus Green Sonus Blue...

Do you HAVE to clean your pads...

...if you're going to use the same product on them next time round? Obvioulsy if you've been doing some heavy cutting and you have a load of paint on the pad then it's going to need a wash, but if say you're using one to apply a non-abrasive product do you need to clean it or can you just...

Best pad to use with AIO?

I've just trawled through pages upon pages of threads on AIO which have been extremely informative; however there is still one question that nobody has directly tackled: What's the best pad to apply AIO with? I was going to use the green Sonus DAS, but it seems that some people use the blue...

First effort with a PC - why's it taken me so long to get one?!

Having had my PC delivered last Friday I was eager to get out and have a go with it to see what all the fuss was about. However, being naturally cautious, I didn't want to risk it on my car - cue a mate with a work van in desperate need of attention:D I figured it try it on this first on the...

New Autoglym product - Ultra Deep Shine

I know I'm only a rookie and should still be chained up inside the Autopia University but this post should benefit everybody so I'm going to stick it here! Whilst browsing the shelves of my local auto store (Halfords) I noticed a product that I hadn't seen before - AUTOGLYM ULTRA DEEP SHINE...

    Two quick PC Pad questions

Just had my PC delivered but wanted to know two things before I start. 1. Should I wash the pads before I use them? (I bought the Sonus Wash as well). 2. The white pad that comes in the PC box - what Sonus DAS pad is that equivalent to? I'm assuming green? Thanks in advance, Ben.

I'm being dumb - what does LSP mean?!

I've seen it in loads of threads and I know roughy what it is, I just can't work out what it stands for! So, could somebody put my mind at ease and let on?! Thanks, Ben.

    Sealant then wax or vice-versa?

OK so I'm starting to get confused now. With all the talk of sealants and waxes my brain is going into overload and I'm starting to tie myself up in knots! Quite simply, what comes first after you've cleaned the paint with something like SSR2 then AIO? The sealant or the wax? For...

    AIO in the UK

Anybody know where to get it? Having heard about how good it is I thought I better give it a go but can't find it anywhere! I knew I should have added it to the PC order! Ben

To stick with #9 or move to #80?

I've just bought a PC which is hopefully somewhere over the Atlantic as we speak and I'm having a bit of a dilemma re: swirl removers. I recently bought #9, #7 and #26 to use with the PC, but having read pages of posts the general consensus is that #9 is more of a filler than a polish. Would...
