Another HONDA (CR-V) - Detailed by Luster

Second Honda this week! I guess lowering my rates for the recession must have paid off!!! (Haha!) Just "average" on dirt. Not trashed like yesterday's detail. But the paint wasn't in very good shape. Lots of swirls. The owner is a cheap..... nevermind. Anyway, he wouldn't pay for me to...

1999 Honda Accord... Detailed by Luster

;) A lady called me last week about a full detail on her '99 Accord. It was trashed on the inside, oxidized on the outside. She's a nice lady and asked me if I could do it for $150. No problem. (I've got a couple Vettes later in the week, so I was feelin' generous!!:D) Washed with Eagle...

    50 Corvettes....

Just a little local show at Hooter's in Independence MO today. It was a beautiful day - 70 degrees, no clouds or wind. Here are a few pictures from the day:

Luster Detailed: Lincoln LS Ground Effects...

Haha... I want the whole car!!!:D A friend of mine called me a couple nights ago and wanted his Ground Effects polished. He had taken them off the car, re-painted and wet-sanded them and wanted me to "shine 'em up"! Process... 1. For good measure, I hit them with some 2000 one more time 2...

    Detailing as my Excersize Program...

I went for my physical exam last week and my Doc asked me: Doc: Bill, how much do you excersize? Bill: At least 30 minutes per day. Some days, several hours. Doc: What are you doing for excersize? Bill: I detail cars. Doc I beg your pardon? Bill: I clean, polish and wax cars. Doc...

    Changing Cabin Air Filter...

This would really fall in the category of "Vehicle Maintenance" rather than detailing. But I thought it would be helpful. I would highly recommend this "mod" (Haha). I call it a mod because hardly anyone ever does it!!! ;D I have been having some pretty bad smells coming through the A/C...

    Mildew smell in HVAC vents...

My '06 GTP is having some pretty foul mildew odors coming out of the HVAC vents. My logic was that mildew should be treated with a mildew disinfectant spray to kill the germs causing the odor. My wife uses Lysol disinfectant spray in the bathrooms all the time so I thought I'd give it a try...

    E-Z Detail Wheel Brush

I've been thinking of buying the E-Z Detail Wheel Brush. I've always cleaned my wheels by hand and reached the backside and brake calipers through the holes in the wheels by hand as well. But my method is not very effective. There are always places I can't reach. What's been your experience...

    Meguiar's #1... Not for PC?

Until I discovered and started using M105, I was pretty much sold on Meguiar's #1 Medium Cut Cleaner. It's a nice compound/polish that works fairly fast and sometimes doesn't even need a follow-up with a fine polish. Someone told me... "Read the label". Clearly states... "For Rotary Use...

New Brake Pads made the difference...

My 2000 Pontiac Trans Am has roughly 12,000 miles on it. It didn't really need new brake pads, but I just couldn't stand the brake dust anymore!!! I would drive it 20 miles and I'd have to wipe down the chrome wheels to free them of brake dust! I must admit, I'm pretty anal about brake...

    "Least" Favorite detailing chore...

Most of us around here love working with the paint... polishing, sealing, etc. But there are some items that most of us just DREAD! For me it's Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning!!! Actually, interiors in general. I always do the interior first to get it DONE so I can move on to the good stuff...

    Other uses for the PC...

As you all know, the PC is a very versitile machine. It was originally designed as a professional orbital sander for finish carpenters and cabinet makers (PC7336... exactly the same as the 7424).... So here's my latest PC adventure. I have 3 sons in college, who come home every weekend. They...

    Clean Brakes, Wheels, Wheelwells.....

Brakes, Wheels & Wheelwells..... And a little paint dress-up too. Since I just retired, this Trans Am won't be driven in the winter anymore. But every year for the past 9 years, it has been driven daily... rain, sleet, salt, snow... you name it. This is a cleanup/repaint of the wheelwells...

    "Old Muscle..."

Just wanted to share some of the cars I detail on a regular basis. I run around with a group of guys and gals that all have old muscle cars, Vettes, street rods, etc. From April through October we go to "cruise nights" every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon. Not to...

    Going through the clear...

No, no... it hasn't happened to me. But it's always on my mind! 1. Have you ever polished through the clearcoat? 2. On a "late model" car, how many times can it be polished (say... M105/M205) to remove swirls, and still be safe from a clearcoat breach? I'm sure there are hundreds of...

    And Finally... the Daily Driver!

Here's the final installment in my "stable" of cars. It's the daily driver - '06 Grand Prix GTP. 3.8L V6 S/C, 260hp. Runs pretty good for a "Grocery-Getter"!:) Usually driven about 20k miles per year. I polish it with M105 once a year with LC orange with a PC. Follow up with ZAIO/Z6, then...

    My wifes Trans Am...

This is my wife's car. It's almost 10 years old and has 12,000 miles. I've tried to keep it as it was the day it was new. I keep lots of Zaino on it. Everywhere I go, someone wants to buy it... think we'll keep it! hahaha........... She's a beast.
