When it High GSM TOO High

Can we talk GSM ? Just short of a drying towel, where would you use a slighter shorter but much more denser towel like on a 16" footprint in the 800-1100 GSM ration. As opposed to a slightly longer nap *may snag a bit or 2 on emblems*, but more the typical 480 Edgeless towels.

What`s your go to MF towel wash ?

Just grabbed some brand new towels out of my towel stash..... Same exact towels used - I thought they were clean and soft, but boy, these new ones out of my bin are 3X softer. Just for the helluva it, I decided to do a semi uncontrolled test. Old towels which I thought were soft but feel StiFF...

I have like short handles right angle sweep broom .....been looking for alternatives/new ones/replacements for years. Keep one in the trunk of our cars. Easy peasy sweeping out the floormats, trunk, etc. Bristles are just perfect - not too hard , not too soft. Everytime I go to the container...

    TRIM Specific Coatings

Whether it Gtechniq, Gyeon, etc - have ya`ll noticed a DIFFERENCE in each manuf. lineup when they have a ~coating~ that is specific for trim ? To analogize, is it like the bodyshop painting plastics, where they add flex additives, etc to deal with it being plastic/rubber. And in some cases, my...

    ABC Decontam.

Anyone still using part A or B in your detailing regimine. Past couple years, it`s been IronX followed by Nanoskin or clay, depending on the situation. Was doing garage cleanup and found a 1/2 jug full or A and B. Prob. will use this up on the next one.

Coating on Trim / and or Trim *dress* prior to coating

It`s been awhile but last year when testing...even though I prefered finest on paint, it seemed like Optimum over trim in thin layers was much better success than Finest. For those that have a combo, what are ya`ll using on trim these days coating direct, or specific like Dlux trim dressing...

Guru Notes on some oldies - OID, 425 and Hydro.

Found some jugs - some even unopend of OID, 425 and Prima Hydro in the mountain of products. I stopped using them for a reason but can`t recall why - lotsa stuff has supplemented it I suppose.... I tend to use UWWP as my ID of choice these days, and or Gyeon Cure. For those very familiar with...

A OLD Standby saves the Day = P21S Wheel Cleaner

I have a good half dozen bottles of P21S Wheel Cleaner that I have not touched in the last 5-7 years.... I've resorted to using other stuff that requires less scrubbing, etc. Recently I acquired a used Ridgid Tristand. One of it's primary use is making threads on pipe --- and when you're...

    Degreasing ~GREASE~ splattered car

I must have hit something overnight - a can/jar of grease. This is fairly thick grease. Most of it is on the wheelwheel and there are splatterd marks on the paint. I did not want to *touch* it, so I gave it a heavy dwelling of APC 2:1 on both the wheelwells and paint 3:1 on the wheels. 2...

It all went down with the newborn

So who's let their guard down after having a couple ~munchkins~ in the mix. Hell, I have everyone from the wife down to my mother know to use the door handles when closing the door. Yesterday, I broke down. It was so jammed in the SUV, I ended up throwing a movers blanket uptop and strapped the...

Degreasing Engine Bay - Your Tips and Tricks

I would normally just use TAW on a long soak/rinse but I think this oil needs a bit more *umph* to it to clean. Doing some spring cleaning, and the engine bay in my ///M has got a bit of a grease buildup due to a unspotted oil leak. I'm a OCD freak, so whatever hoses don't come out clean, I...

How much do you spend on your *wash media*

GRRR.....another perfectly sound SS mitt relegated to wheel duties. I have the worst luck. On my DD, jet black, sometimes I can't see where there may be road tar, etc. Especially with the brutal winter we have hd, the underbody, lower body is caked with just sand, salt, tar, asphalt , etc from...

    Tuff Shine - Darkening Wheels

Okay. Starting to get warm so I'm getting more into detailing mode. Riddle me this. The wheels are powdercoated in a custom *black/grey* with flake to it. Topped with a semi matte clear powder ontop. I was not careful during one of my Tuf Shine Sessions and just had some drips/runoff onto the...

    Wheelwheel Dressing that Lasts

I've never come across a wheelwheel dressing that lasts. The last product I had high hopes was the Tuf Shine Trim Coating. It lasted a bit longer but nothing marginally better than other products... On my SUV, which has a bit more *exposed to the eyes* wheelwellls, this detail on look is more...
