Any safe proven products to neutralize winter salt on bodywork and undercarriage?

Lonnie & Silly Rabbit- Good on you for mentioning the Salt-Away. Wonder if it trashes LSPs? Setec- You doing OK on salt mitigation even without the Salt-Away?

Bull6791- I suspect most people don't realize it until they see rust-blooms. Using a color-indicator Iron Remover will basically just show whether it was necessary or...whether you just wasted resources trying to fix something that wasn't broken after all! Processes like the baggie-test can...

Any safe proven products to neutralize winter salt on bodywork and undercarriage?

Risley- Welcome to Autopia! I commend you for caring about the areas that don't show! I'm a fanatic about my undercarriages/etc. so your Q resonates with me :D Automotive International/ValuGard (yes, SIC) sells a product called ProGard VG-502 made just for this, and VG stuff is approved by...

MisterSnoop- That *is* worth mentioning, how the CAIO takes a bit of work to get out of the pads! A good Pad Cleaning Product can help a lot, but yeah...still a lot of work under hot water (and wearing nitrile gloves). I always dedicate my pads to specific products, so having those "just for...

TGates- Heh heh, once again, you and I are on the same page after all! Bull6791- OK, just be careful that you don't make more work for yourself.

Bull6791- As with TGates' advice (excellent per usual!), the info you'd heard about number/cleaning pads was pretty good. My short answer about the number of pads is always "a lot more than you'd ever imagine!" and that's not really facetious. OK, I'm pretty fanatical about this topic, but you...

Sizzle Chest- I hope I share your opinion of the GG creams as I plan to use them next time I have to do a major correction (well, in addition to M101). Bull6791- IIRC, Toyotas are still on the "somewhat soft normal" range with regard to hardness. Griot's used a black Toyota for their video...

Bull6791- It's pretty inconceivable that you'd do any damage with something like Griot's Ceramic AIO :D But I sincerely commend you for thinking along those lines, you're smart to take it easy and not "polish away too much clearcoat", a danger that some people don't take seriously. If...

Any Interest in Griot`s New G13 Mini Long-Throw Orbital??

Setec- Well, it didn't take me half an hour to realize that my Rupes mini wasn't right for me ;)

What about doing a one-step with one of Griot's All-in-One ("AIO") products? With that approach, once you've finished with the "polishing step" you can quit because the AIO will leave some protection behind. Then you could add something more durable after the next regular wash. I would not...

Bull8791- Griot's has a number of different kits...which of their combos are you looking at? As noted, the G9 is a good unit, especially with a 5" plate. Unless you're planning to do a big correction (aggressive polishing to remove scratches/swirls/etc.) I'd recommend you try an All-In-One...

Hand foam pad to use with Blackfire`s One Step for application/polishing?

Flycaster- Working by hand, as long as you use a remotely sensible product (one-step/all-in-one products will generally qualify), and a "polishing" or "finishing" or even "wax applicator" pad, you won't remove a significant amount of clear so no worries there. Noting how young you are ;) I...

Any Interest in Griot`s New G13 Mini Long-Throw Orbital??

Setec- Gee, that's quite a kit SPTA put together! How does it work? Thinking bogging/etc. Had I not received that iBrid.... And yeah, the overall design and the trigger are what sold me on the GG units.

Any Interest in Griot`s New G13 Mini Long-Throw Orbital??

Setec- Yeah, there were a few versions of the early/wimpy GG 3". I returned mine (maybe their v1.0) when it quit working and they sent a replacement (dunno which version..but it was right before they discontinued them) ...but I never bothered unboxing it as the one I returned was basically...

Any Interest in Griot`s New G13 Mini Long-Throw Orbital??

I've had occasion to use my G13 recently, and I love it! I've only used it with GG 3" pads, but zero complaints and as expected I do greatly prefer it over my Rupes (let alone my PCs). I debated returning my G8when I got the G13, but instead I set the G8 up for use with1-2" pads.

    Which AIO?

Every time I use an AIO for my Finishing Polish, I'm completely satisfied and glad I went that route. At least with AIOs you don't have to deal with Polishing Oils, which can drive me nuts. Trying to get [crap] like Meguiar's TSO's out of my paint drives me nuts, and having issues "reappear"...
