Sorry if this is a silly question, but...I was wondering if the factory, after the paint is applied and baked, hand rubs or buffs the finish to bring it up to gloss. I realize they can't match the process of a high-end builder such as Chip Foose or Boyd Coddington, but to what extent do they go...

I just bought a PC polisher and the special green foam pad made in germany supposedly for German finishes. I intend to use it for waxing, but can I also use it to remove some very light scratches,using a light polish,from one section of my car('05 BMW 5 Series)?
