Am I the best detailer in the world?

When I watch videos like this, I figure I probably am. ‪Paint Overspray Removal International Services " ranked # 1 industrial paint specialist"‬‏ - YouTube There are reasons I never let another human touch my vehicles. I don't care if you own a shop and have white coveralls, it doesn't...

    Another Chemical Guy's Not-So-Gallon post

I know the reason that CG's gallons aren't full is for UPS and other shipping companies, but I wish they could be a little more accurate with just how much theyre going to leave out. I received some CWG and Grime reaper this morning, neither is full, but there must be 20 washes worth missing...

    Megs #105 vs D151

This is an image I threw together for my website, I though it would be good to put it on the forum as well for reference purposes. Just demos my two basic packages, single pass with orange pad and D151, or a full correction with M105, D151, and #21 Sealer. Full pic here...

    Makita 9227 operation volume.

I had a Dewalt years ago, but it went 'missing' at one point. After 6 months with a 7424XP, I went ahead and ordered a Makita 9227 from Autogeek. It arrived today. I threw on an orange pad and some D151 and gave it a whirl on the hood of my car. Wokring at 1500RPM this thing is WHISPER quiet...

Newbies and beginners: This is what you have to look forward to.

It took a lot of determination, self discipline, and wiping residue off of weather seals, but when my new Makita 9227 arrived today, I opened the box, and knew immediately that I'd finally hit the big time.

Tips & Tricks to speed up the process.

So I've been professionally detailing part time for awhile now, and have the process and techniques down. I have lots of product, 3 polishers, lots of pads, mf's, lights, and everything else I'll ever need. The results have been good, lots of happy customers. I average about 8 hours for an...

Hey -- Can we talk about paint correction?

"Use the least aggressive products you can, and build up to harsher products if necessary." This is the detailers mantra, but I still don't buy it. Last night, I finally got around to showing my dad a thing or two about paint correction. I gave him one of my old sorta-worn yellow LC pads, and...

Clean pads with the washing machine

I just threw a few old dirty pads in with my dirty microfibers and wax applicators in the washing machine. Set it to the gentle 'knits & delicates' setting, and they came out great! No damage to the velcro or anything. Does anyone else do this at all?

    boat gel coat sealant

Should I use a gel coat sealant after compounding and polishing a boat, or will Megs #21 be ok?

I'm keeping the lights on at Autogeek...

Just placed my fourth order within the last seven days. Customer called in with a badly oxidized boat. I had a dewalt rotary a few years ago, but it was taken/stolen in my year or so of not-detailing. I use a pneumatic rotary a tonne on aircraft at work, and decided a boat in need of repair was...

    D151 sub in for M205?

For most of my higher end paint correction packages I will start with M105, follow with a finishing polish, and finish with a pure sealant LSP. Most people would of course recommend using 205 after 105, why break up the twins right? Let me digress a little: I use D151 for my cheaper...

This is how I know we will always have a job...

I've seen this video a couple times on Youtube, it never ceases to make me shake my head. The though was there, but the execution was a little... well... lacking. YouTube - How to remove clearcoat paint scratches from your car Remember guys, once you see the colour coming through, you...

    Remove sealant with foam pad

I apply my paint sealants with a soft foam LC pad on my PCXP, as I'm sure a lot of people do. I follow it up by a microfiber wipe off and buff. Does anyone use a fresh jeweling pad to remove sealant haze and buff to a shine? Or would it just get gummed up and send dust everywhere?

Best pad for a quick n' dirty AIO?

I do some occasional maintenance for friends and family between my other jobs. I typically talk them in to a $30 real quick wash/polish/wax/tires dressed on top of it. Obviously Im going to use an AIO, Im not just going to throw money away. The last couple times I've been using Poorboy's Pro...
