1 Z Glanz Wax -- any users out there ?

2004 Civic EX magnesium
Hi, since I have some QD+ (has carnuba) wax layers on my car, I was thinking of using my Glanz Wax this weekend as additional layer/wax. I want to apply synthetics (AIO, SG) in October, but in the meantime, I don't want to strip the recent applications in order to prep it for synthetics. So I figured since I have (carnuba) wax on already, may as well use the Glanz.

Any users out there with any suggestions for a beginner? I trust I can put it on my existing QD+ coat. A month ago, I detailed my 7-week old car with a wash/clay/AIO/2 coats of UPP....so the QD+ layers just went on the last 2-3 weeks.

Let me know if I will experience any problems. Thanks, guys!

Glanz Wax has a very high solvent content. so if you put it on your car everything that was on it will be gone. BUT, glanz is very durable (probably the most durable LSP or Next to LSP i've used). so if your "winterizing" your car glanz is a good choice. throw a little carnuba on it and you're good. hope i've helped.

Thanks, Jcraw...."LSP" is what.....?

When you say "everthing that was on it will be gone" do you mean the QD+ layers I put on the last 2 weeks (it spotted so I S&W'd and then re-applied it rather quickly). Or do you mean the AIO and UPP layers I put on about a month ago?

Whatever is being taken off, what in the Glanz Wax is taking it off? There are no abrasives or polishes, so why would it take off anything, except maybe the final (QD+) coat it is replacing?

Well it does have petro. dist. in it, so are you saying I'm taking off everything from the AIO layer on up? The PD's aren't hurting the clearcoat -- or the paint -- right????

Why is this "wax" taking off so many earlier layers? I know waxes don't layer well with non-waxes but I didn't know that they -- or just this one -- takes off the AIO and UPP acrylic/polymer syntetic layers I put on earlier.

Maybe I shouldn't put this on?

HEY!! If this Glanz Wax takes off everything, then it doesn't pay to use AIO or anything before it....yet the bottle says "for best results, polish before."

So this "wax" is supposed to go straight to the clearcoat or paint??? That's a wax ? No sealants below it???

Wax is designed to be put on straight to the paint, then some people came up with the idea hey why don't we put wax on top of a sealant:-p

Well you can always try it out;)

I thought waxes were supposed to go on top of a sealant, Jared, but maybe I'm back in my '80's groupthink.

This thing is supposed to be very resilient so maybe it does take the place of AIO/SG and sealants.

Maybe I'll use it on dad's car.

AND HOW COME MY SMILEY FACES ARE ALWAYS AT THE BEGINNONG OF MY POSTS !!! argghh!!

Einszett Glanz Wax is not a carnauba wax. It is a synthetic product and would be considered a substitute for items like Klasse SG, 4* UPP, or Poorboy's EX-P.

Glanz Wax does seem to be high in solvents. Just pour a few drops into the palm of your hand and give it a whiff. Looks and smells a lot like lighter fluid.

I used 1 Z Glanz Wax. ProPolish+EX+1ZGlanz. Don't know about durability but the looks were outstanding. I did this combo on my f-i-l's dark bluish gray Buick. When I picked him up at the airport his eyes bugged and out came a wow! Trust me that's a major demonstration of emotion there.

HondaMan,

It's good to know I'm not the only one w/smiley face disfunction!

Just can't figure it out.... and I've been in software development for 30 years.

Hondaman,

LSP= Last Step Product

when i say everything, i mean everything on the paint, QD+, AIO, UPP...etc. Glanz is designed to do this so that it can bond properly to the paint. like NYV6Coupe said, it's the solvents doing this.

Jrcraw, Rabbi says he used "ProPolish + EX + 1Z Glanz" -- now, if you are saying that the 1Z is taking everything from the paint (clearcoat) up, then is Rabbi's use of EX being wasted?

Jcraw? Rabbi?

I do not know if the 1 ZGlanz Wax took everything off or not. I do know his car looked stunning and he was very pleased with his car. I also know I never seen his car look better.

yeah, from my understanding is that the EX (or a good bit of it) would be gone. but like rabbi said, the car looked great. that's what it's all about right?? if you have the time, try it out. i'll post pics of my truck w/ glanz topped with # 16 when i get home from work.

OK I think I got it.....just to conclude, putting #16 -- I take it that's a wax? -- you can apply layers of that same wax once the Glanz or any other acryllic is applied, right? But if you go back to the Glanz/acryllics, they'll take off the wax (non-layerable).

Also, what about 2 coats of Glanz -- does the 2nd take off the 1st? If so, I won't do 2nd layers on the car(s) I did this weekend (pics coming).

Finally, I want to do a 2nd coat of UPP about 1 month after I applied the 1st. Is most of that coat still there that I am applying a 2nd coat? Or maybe I need to apply one tomorrow and then re-hit it the next day or next week? How long does UPP last?

yup, hit the nail on the head.

yep, which is the reason why i don't do more than one layer.

i wouldn't wait a month...try 24-48 hours.

here's the pics 1z PP, 1z GW, Meguiar's #16 paste wax
