VM/EX Combo

OK PB guru's I need some tips. I'm going to do a detail of VM/EX combo. Was going to apply the VM with a MF applicator and EX with a foam applicator. VM applied panel at a time, then wipe off with MF. EX same. This is my first time with these products.

I used a yellow foam applicator to apply both the VM and the EX-P. I put both on by hand. I then did the entire car with VM and wiped off with a micro. I completely covered the car in EX-P before wiping that off also. Hope this helps.

VM can be wiped off as you do the panel or after you do the whole car. I apply VM with a polishing pad with a PC. But, a microfiber applicator will work too. I always use foam applicators for sealants and waxes.

Scott, why don't you use Mircrofiber applicators for sealants and waxes? Any specific reason, or just cause?

we have found that a damp sponge was the best way to apply thin layers of EX and EX-P due to their thickness...I've use mf applicators, but the sponges seemed better:dunno

I think foam absorbs less product. This way, I can get thin and even coats.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I might just apply VM on the whole X, then remove with a MF. As to the damp sponge, would Quik Shine be ok for damping? Would Quik Shine also be ok for QDing EX?

I applied VM with a finishing pad (just looking for the glazing effect) and I'll bet I didn't use two tablespoons for the entire car. It will go a VERY long way. IMO, it thought it was easier to remove while still not completely dry.

I experimented with apply VM with a finishing pad, foam applicator, and terry cloth pad on different sections and I don't see any difference after taking it off with MF.

It goes on so easy & comes off even easier that I'd probably keep using the PC.

Same goes for EX-P

It all comes down to personal preference & what YOU think looks best and the amount of physical effort that you think should go into achieving that look.

Thanks a ton steve and scott. That seems to make sense. My microfiber applicators do tend to soak in the product more than the foam. And the damp sponge idea sounds like something I have to try....just have to get EX-P now. :)

it doesn't say wet or dripping:) damp and that also helps prevent the product from soaking into the pad;)
