My flyer

Porkanbeans

O RLY?
I just got back from a replenishing trip. I got the Mothers 3 step system, DuPont tire shine, carpet cleaner, shop towels, and Meg's leather cleaner/conditioner. Now it's time to put up flyers so I can at least break even within the next 2 months! :wall Please critique this. I'm trying not to be too fancy, as I am a high schooler doing this on weekends, but at the same time establish the fact with the reader that I have confidence and experience in what I do. The prices are fair IMO, but I'm still considering a $5 or so raise on each service.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry guys. I revised it and revised it last night so I took it off until I finished it. I think I got it to a point where it's simple enough to read yet it offers a good description of what is included with everything.

It seems that you forgot to leave the .doc extention on the file when you zipped it up. So you might want to look at that :)

While I dont know much about you, your potential customers, the area you live in, what other people in your area are charging, etc.... I definately think that you could charge more.

For your exterior detail package, I would think that you could do all of that but instead of doing the 3 step thing, just use the wax by it self. I think that would still be fair. A similar thing could be said for the interior detail. Raise your prices on those! :) I dont know what level of work you will be doing, but if I charged that much, id end up working for less than minimum wage.

The basic wash and interior clean is fine though. There are tons of places to get your car washed and there is a lot more competition with that.

I hope this helps :) Tell us about your area and if your going to be mobile or if people will drop off their vehicles for you and we can help you even more. The most important thing to remember is... have fun with this business :cool

Treestand,

Thanks for your advice. I was wondering if I should offer the 3 step (Mothers 3 step) as an "a la carte" service. Would this make sense, or would raising the price with the 3 step in the full detail get more people to buy it? My service is not mobile, but it may be as soon as I get a drivers license. Right now I'm operating out of a single car garage on the other side of my house. It's a great place to detail cars. The area I live in is packed with families. Soccer moms, working moms, you name it, they live here. Not many people (if any) wash their own cars. The Simoniz joints are full of cars every day, especially on weekends. Basically, I want to beat the Simoniz price so people will actually come to me. Most everyone around here doesn't know or care about what the difference is between our services and the Simoniz. That's one reason my prices are so low.

When I do the interior, I basically do everything except use an ozone machine :-p . Every relative I ask says that my prices are fair and need to stay where they are. I say "Hell no!" :lmfao I just don't want to charge too much so people won't head on over to Simoniz and have it done in 3 hours. Folks around these parts just don't understand.

If you could, would you please set the prices for me based upon my client base? I am completely lost here, not having experience in the marketing and money management field of detailing.

Thank you. :bow

Basic Wash and Interior Clean : Hand wash and dry. Clean wheels and tires. Vacuum carpeting and floor mats. Clean dash and seats. (this one would put you at a tad bit more than $10/hour)

-Small/Midsize cars: $15
-Large cars/Small SUVs: $20
-Large SUVs/Minivans: $35

Exterior Clean-Up : Basic wash and interior clean plus… dress tires and wheelwells. Apply a high quality carnauba wax. (with this, I think you should add the vacuuming in, and then cut down on the exterior work… this could also be a maintenance type of thing. This would also put you at a tad bit over $10/hour)

-Small/Midsize cars: $25
-Large cars/Small SUVs: $30
-Large SUVs/Minivans: $35

Exterior Detail : You will have to figure this one out yourself… but something including… clay, paint cleaner, polish, wax… maybe change paint cleaner and polish to a more abrasive polish as you get more experienced.. like #80…. You can figure it out. When you move up on your products, your skill level will be going up, and you could also charge more.

Interior Detail : Vacuum and shampoo carpeting, upholstery and floor mats. Vacuum headliner. Clean and dress all dash, door panel, and console pieces. Deodorize interior. Leather (if equipped) cleaned and conditioned. Trunk vacuumed. Door jambs cleaned.

On a really bad car, this could take 5 hours even. On a mostly clean car, maybe two hours… depending how extensive you are. It would depend if your just wiping these out, or really making the interior look as good as it possibly can. I would go off of how much you want to make per hour and how long you think it will take to do the job.

You can also mention how your work will be better than other detailers. Maybe you will not stop until its perfect… while others may just do the work, and if its not good, oh well.. they move on. You could also mention something like “ask about my additional services and what I can do for you”

I hope this makes sense and that it helps you out :)

Thanks so much for your help. I completely agree with the pricing you set and the suggestions about the full detailing. I'm gonna make the changes and post the flyers at neighborhood pools and the occasional wealthy neighborhood mailbox :naughty .

I'll suggest to a customer based on the condition of his car whether or not claying, polishing, etc. is needed. If they agree, I'll do that, then tell them about how the Exterior Clean-Up every other week will help their car's appearance and value. This is great!

Thanks again. :)
