Removing pinstripe

GOT PREP?
I am planning on removing the pinstripe on my car soon and was looking for some pointers. The dealer put it on without my permission and it has always bugged me. Does anyone know the best and safest method to do this? Maybe some of the bodyshop guys? Thanks in advance!

Vinyl pinstripe is typically very easy. A little heat (hair dryer, or let it sit in the sun for a while) to loosen the adhesive, a fingernail & no more stripe. Heat the stripe a bit at a time, then use your finger nail to lift an end of the stripe. Gently peel the stripe off applying heat as needed. A bit of a mild polish will remove any adhesive residue left onthe paint.

I removed a pinstripe before using the fingernail method, and while it works well and doesn't scratch paint, my fingers were all bleeding by the time I was done. I can suggest plastic razor blades, they should work just as well.

The heat gun for the vinyl stripe is great. I use the heat gun and a plastic razor blade instead of my finger nail to scrape it off. I have done that myself.

Some pinstripes arent vinyl, instead they are painted on but this is fairly rare on late model cars.
