well, the reason i disabled my firewall was becuase of the games that i play. they require an open port, so the only way to to turn my fire wall off. also, i cant send people stuff through aim if i have my friewall on.

We use AIM and our HW firewall is fully enabled. You do realize that having a port open even if it is just for gaming opens the kimono so to speak for anyone to enter your system. You could set up your gaming PC as the DMZ PC, and do all your other Net stuff on another secure box.

hmmmm, im not quite sure though. i have a router, and i was told that the router has a firewall already.....

Yes it very well might, that would be a hardware firewall and it is usually not configurable, it just blocks all unsolicited traffic to your network.

For example I have a Linksys Router, and it gives me the option of setting aside 1 PC wide open (in front of the firewall) to the internet, all the rest are behind the firewall, thus are protected.

Software based firewalls (Windows) and Anti-Virus programs can cause AIM a lot of issues.

i like to play warcraft 3. as for the detail, i finished the paint, and now i gotta do the windows and dress the tires, and maybe the trim.
