overspray question

ive got a large job coming up-20+ vehicles with overspray-its epoxy primer, just wanted to ask other professionals if you use a acid or mineral spirit to help loosen up overspray-to cut down on claying time--any ideas--thanks

I heard that you can put lacquer thinner on the car as long as it was never re-painted. It has to have factory original paint. I tried it and it took the overspray off where mineral spirits did not. It did dull the clearcoat, and I was advided that it would, but a coat of wax made it look like new. I'm going to lightly polish it when I get my SSR1 then apply PwC with EX-P on top and I'm sure it will look perfect.

The dull look that came from the lacquer thinner was most likely the disolved overspray paint.
Most of the newer basecoat/clearcoat finishes are not hurt by using lacquer thinner.
Be careful though because many of the trim pieces on the vehicle (usually not the same color as the rest) may be single stage paint and the lacquer thinner will harm those.
Test a small area first!

I did this car a few months back using laquer thinner. I had two buckets one with soapy water and the other with clean water. Using two old wash mitts in both.
I took a small area about 12 x 12 and used the thinner on it then washed with soapy water and then rised. Step by step down the car. Be very careful with the plastic on the cars it WILL remove the finish. For that I used my tire brush with goo gone and APC that seems to take most all off.

Holy crap! what did they hit a bucket o paint . i have never seen anyhtign like that . it must have been time consuming. how much did you charge it you dont mind me asking

The can of paint that she hit was a new aresol can of white crub paint. It exploded onto the side of the car. It took me about 8 hours and as I remember I charged her $400.00. I don't think that there was anyone in this area that could have done this type of work, or maybe smart enought to turn it down....LOL:lmfao
