Need feedback on new OCD page

I've been working on a beta site for my OCDetails website. I worked on the detailing guide yesterday a bit and wanted to get some feedback on what you thought about the picture placement. Do you think it is effective the way that I have it, or is there a better way to place pictures that I am not considering? I appreciate your input.

The whole site is still a work in progress. I need to update the alumni page better and also the 'see our work' page. I am on vacation next week and will be spending a lot of time on this. I have another article written that I am going to put in the OCD-U section. Its an article with some helpful tips on running your own 'weekend warrior shop' for fun and profit. ;) As always, I would gladly accept any articles or suggestions from anyone who would like to participate. Especially from the OCD Alumni. And like I said, that page is still a work in progress. I just threw something together to fill the space really quick. :)

Looks good so far, the links on the left of the page are hard to see though with the black at the left edge.
Sent you an email too ;)

The text is difficult to read as mentioned earlier. I like the addition of the pics. If possible it would be nice to see some pics of the procedure, since it is a procedure guide.

I just looked at some of the other pages on the site and noticed that the white text box covers up part of the background graphic on some of the pages.

Also the images on the alumni page might be a little big (ratio to screen, not kb wise). Mainly the top image.

It also might be nice to have the name "ocdetails" in the header image on each page, in addition to the content label.

I might not know much about detailing.... but I know webpages :cool

rock on :band

Getting pics of the procedure would be nice, but Its hard to take pictures of yourself when detailing. ;) What I am going to need to do is find someone who can take pictures for me while I'm working on different areas. Maybe I'll have to call on the King of Cheese to come down and help me out for a couple hours one day. The problem is just in finding the time to do something like that. Its a great idea though.

The whole site is still a work in progress. I'm still working on getting the text moved over. The Alumni page is definitely not finished. I had another version of the site that I didn't like too much and those pictures are from the other site. I am going to resize them next week and get that page laid out better.

So for now I need to work on changing the color of the text on the buttons. That is a default colorI a that I don't know if I can change. I have other graphics that will have the OCDetails logo on every page, but that wasn't a priority just yet. I spent most of the time just getting text transferred over and getting the pictures posted. I'm also working with a pretty neat feature of the google ads that will be interesting. My html isn't what it should be. I spent too long working in other languages and have forgotten a lot of really basic stuff. :lol Oh well... I appreciate the comments, guys. They are going to help out o lot!

Yeah I noticed the Text on the links being hard to read also . I like how it looks and works. Its kool how the gold swish underlines the link . I think if you just made the button for the link bigger along with the type it would take care of the problem.

There's alot of scroll to the page , by that I mean you have alot of information on one page , so much so that you need to scroll down alot . Personally I don't like pages that require so much scrolling to read them . I would rather click to another page with less scroll . But I'm not on dail-up so I can see where those that are (on Dial-up) wouldn't like alot of pages to wait and load.

You have alot of dead area on the right . To me its wasted space. Use it for something.
Keep up the great work , your site has come along way :bigups

I think you site looks great and it is always a good idea to have a website, helps your buss look more professional, I have a company designing one for mine with a rendered walk through of my shop. Only one thing I saw that kind of caught my eye is on the old website you have a few pic's of engine detail's and the one with the 16 valve EFI still has the leave's around the wiper's (water channel vents) in the finished pic's. Good luck with your new site looks great.

Thank You

Yeah, that one wasn't exactly finished yet. The oil cap is on the strut tower too. I just took the picture because I was in a hurry and was being rushed by the customer. I wouldn't let a car go out that way obviously. The picture was just to show off the engine bay mainly. Thanks for the comments on it though. :) The main reason I wanted a website was so that I could put pictures and price lists on it and then just put the URL on a business card. It saves time rather than having to explain it all everytime you hand out a card. You also don't have to put anything else on the card except your name, number, and website if you don't want to. :D
