Q: BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Instant Detailer?

Merlin

A Miracle Detailing
I understand that this is a BFMS wax QD spray.

What is the advantage of using MSID over BFWD Polymer spray?

Does it create the "Ice over Fire" look using this QD spray?

Giving this a bump. I have both on the way, but I would also like to hear from those that have been playing with it already.

Thanks for giving this a bump, I totally missed the question!

Midnight Sun Instant Detailer is a primarily a quick detailer with the benefits of having both ivory carnauba wax and Wet Diamond polymers in it. It is excellent at cleaning light soiling, smudges, finger prints, and bird droppings with ease. It can be used on moderately wet surfaces as a drying aid. It also imparts a considerable amount of wax/polymers on the surface which gives the paint added protection and a deeper, Midnight Sun carnauba glow.

Wet Diamond Polymer Spray is primarily a spray sealant with the benefits of being a light duty quick detail spray. Smudges and finger prints are no problem. It can be used as a drying aid as well, but only on barely wet surfaces. It has a high count of Wet Diamond polymers, so the look and slickness it leaves is very familiar. It adds more protection to the paint then Midnight Sun Carnauba with a brighter (yet still deep) Wet Diamond shine.

You can use either product over any BLACKFIRE LSP, although Midnight Sun Instant Detailer really works well over Midnight Sun Ivory Carnauba Paste (and any wax for that matter!). You can also use Midnight Sun Instant Detailer over a sealant to create that "Wet Ice over Fire" signature shine.

Nice. I did not realize it had carnauba wax in it. I am looking forward to giving my bottle a try here soon when the weather warms up a bit and I can give the truck a good wash.

Thanks Todd for the reply.

Let me see if I got this straight...
This is what I gathered from your post.
It is probably WAY over simplified.

SHORT VERSION:

Midnight Sun Instant Detailer
BFMS QD with wax

Wet Diamond Polymer Spray
BFWD spray on sealant

I changed it slightly (in red)

No wax in Z8. Sal would never put "wax" in his products!

Actually it's true.
Z-8 is a "Showtime"/"Sunday Best" type of Quick Detailer.
I spoke with Sal and he stated to me that Z-8 has wax in it.
It's probably not an "all" wax QD...but it does contains some wax.
I doubt Z-8 offers much protection or longevity...but it looks great!
I think of Z-8 as "The icing on the cake" type of QD spray

On the other hand, I don't believe, Z-6 has any wax in it at all.

Used Z8 (and the Zaino system) many times. Z8 is like BFPS...icing on the cake, not really a QD. Sal is so down on carnauba, that this surprises me....wonder what "wax" means?

The other thing is that you can add more layers of the Z2/Z5 sealants after using Z8, so maybe the"wax" amount is very small.

Once again, thanks for the explanation Todd.

I use the PS after washes to amp up the shine. If I really want a nice shine, I go over it with a QD that containes carnauba. Gives it a really great look, to me anyway.

i love the bfwdsw, but definitely need to pick up some bfmsid. didn't realize it contained some ivory carnauba also. :bigups

Well after using both and listening to Todd's explanation on the differences here's what I found on the sprays...

I use the BFPS for Saturday night-out, cruise-in etc. a very nice glossy finish.

I use the BFMS as a QD to clean smudges etc. and keep the surface clean.

A friend of mine has a few "older" cars and he will NOT wash 'em with water.
I gave him a bottle of the BF waterless wash to try...He fell in love with it.
Water, old cars & rust scares him. I know now I'll never get the bottle back.

Do you know if BFPS is similar to Pinnacle Waterless Wash with Carnauba?
