clay question

Anyone ever try a regular bar of clay like you can purchase from a craft store or something like that? I always wondered if it would work and it never came to mind while I was at a store like that. I just thought about it and thought I would ask.

Anyone chime in
 
I would try it on something that it didn't matter if it got scratched. My only concern is about the purity of the craft clay. One partical that would scratch the paint is enough to justify paying more money for what I know will work safely.
 
I remember reading somewhere that the composition of automotive clay and other clay was totally different and would not work the same.

how long do theese clay bars last for im doing my girlfriends car which is in big need for it i may do mine too can iu use the same bar?
 
I cut the bar into smaller sizes. I cut a 100 gram bar into 4 pieces and depending on condition of car 1-2 cars per piece. Helps cause just in case you drop it, at least the whole bar isn't wasted. And, if you are working on a real beater you dont want to ruin a whole bar.
 
ok great thanks for the info on that thats what i will day, I can't wait to go out and do it now
 
Ive been told by the people at p&s products that you can do up to 20 cars with a bar. that seems like alot but that is what they said and they havent given me any bogus info on anything so far
