Big blue drying towel deal.

Big Blue Microfiber Drying Towel, 40 x 28 inches

WOW! Cant beat that. I would be all over this, but I have a GRIOTS PFM new in the bag.

dang. I guess these towels were not that big of a hit.. I haven`t heard anyone really talk about them

I know Ron and myself use them... I recently bought the smaller ones, and LOVE them for RW drying with drying aid... I have the medium sized ones but it`s kind of a hassle especially compared to the smaller big blue, which is the one I think is best for a sedan or car

this is tempting, however...if not to use it as a dusting cloth or recommend it as such to my friends who like to use their California dusters

I can`t keep these large towels from touching the ground at some point. I like my (collection of) small sized Dry Me A Rivers

They`re too thick and heavy for me. Hard to control where it touches for panel-by-panel RW drying. Also takes forever to air dry.

I have two of the 26 x 18 towels that are waiting to be used. I will be using one of them on my next wash. I hadn`t even used my large PFM drying towel yet when I ordered two of these. They feel like nice towels. Maybe they will take off once spring rolls around.

I love the PFM towel even on glass, I am hoping for the same with this towel. I usually end up using waffle weave towels on glass, because most towels seem so grabby.

I have the medium.

I will admit that it does hold a lot of water and that it is very plush. I gets cumbersomely heavier with all the liquid it holds. I found it harder to work with when compared to my Dry Me a River towels, which aren`t anywhere near as plush but do a great job drying the paint. I use two DMaR towels for my car, but they are more easily manipulated. Also, if one happens to touch a wheel or the ground in the process, I move on to the next. I couldn`t see myself having more than 1 big blue because of cost.

I like the Big Blue towels. I`ve got two smalls and one medium and that`s plenty for me. I can`t see needing the large unless you have a huge vehicle. I think the large would get too heavy and unwieldy based on using the medium.

Hmmm...I might like those for covering up sections of a vehicle that I`m doing piecemeal. WAY too big for me to use a Drying Towels, but good for covering up the roof/hood/trunklid of something or maybe as cushioning under a car cover.

Everyones definition of towel is subjective..

You take a 1100GSM towel that is almost 2x4` and load it up with water, and sure it`s going to be helluva heavy.
If you are the type to wipe panels, the size is not exactly friendly.
IF you are the type to blot, you can lay 2 towels, one on the hood and one roof, and blot, then this towel is great for that application method.

If you use other means to dry your car (like blow drying), I get by with getting a 375gsm 16" towel that only get`s about 60% saturated by just blotting whatever small spec`s of left - blower tends to form mini beads of water.

IMO, there is no right or wrong...it really kinda boils down to how you dry. If you don`t blow your car, IMO these big blue towels are a great item to start with the hood and roof. I`m a huge fan of blotting .....

What`s your idea of a great drying towel?

One that absorbs a lot of water yet still being able to manipulate it. For example the large big blue is good for large flat surfaces like the hood and roof of a truck or SUV. The issue I have with it is when you start trying to hold it to get other areas. Forget folding it over on itself. It`s too thick. The medium sized one is the same. It can only be folded in half. The small big blue has a similar construction as the rag company everest towel. I got away from these towels. After a few passes they don`t really hold water that well. They are too plush which gives you a lot of cushion between your hand and paint. It allows for a lot of movement from one`s hand placed on top of the towel. Meaning you could lose the towel if not held properly.

Thanks for the reply! Which drying towel brand is your favorite?
