Quick question about vinegar and mf.

I did a search and am pretty sure of the answer, but I just want to make sure.

When washing microfibers in a washing machine, I'm supposed to add distilled white vinegar to the rinse cycle...does the vinegar then have to be rinsed or is it all set?
 
The first agitation cycle cleans the towels with hot water and soap. The second cycle agitates with only fresh water to remove the soap residue. It is during this cycle that you add the white vinegar which helps remove all traces of soap hidden in the fibers and results in a softer/fluffier towel. Just make sure that your detergent does NOT contain fabric softeners which will ruin your microfibers by making them non absorbant any more.

Yes -- I washed mine this weekend, and added vinegar to the rinse cycle. I was very pleased. Even the Costco MF towels came out nice and fluffy. Thanks again to this site for the wonderful tips.

I just eyeball it. A splash for a few towels, half-to- two thirds of the softener dispensor for a full load.



IIRC DFTowel posted a specific-dose recommendation if you want to search for it.
 
I would guess that I added about 3/4 cup. I had enough towels for a "small" load. I just poured it in when my washer hit the "rinse" cycle. I guess it would be easier to use the Softener Dispensor.
 
I think you need to use a soap/detergent that will clean whatever you have in your MF's. If that means a strong degreaser then use it. I have been using some ZEP 505 on my door jamb, wheel and basically really dirty MF's and they are coming out very clean. I use a 3/4's to 1 cup if the distilled white vinegar in the rinse cycle as well. (I usually start the cycle back over after the wash spins out and give them a double rinse)



Dawn dish soap is very good for the MF's you use when taking off wax. Again be sure to rinse them very clean. You can dry them on medium heat as well. Probably could use high heat without any problems.



Oh, wash in hot water. The hotter the better.

on the last rinse cycle, i add about as much vinegar as i would when i use car wash. so about 4-5oz's...
