1993 Nissan Maxima Hood…
Yesterday taught a couple of “student of the art of detailing how to effectively use the rotary buffer to correct moderate to severe paint defects. First, we picked up a hood off a black 1993 Nissan Maxima at a local salvage yard (clock showed 230k miles).
I demonstrated with a 4 step process using a
1. Heavy cut compound + yellow wool pay with my Dewalt 849.
2. Heavy leveler with my green light cut foam pad.
3. Blue foam with a medium polish.
4. Final Polish swirl remover and a white foam pad.
We then all took turns burning the paint. The hood will obviously never be restored to showroom condition, but it well served to demonstrated what you can do with a rotary with the right abrasives, pads and technique.
Figured I would share a few pics with my fellow buff nuts …
