car wash soap

Hoping for a sunny day
Does it really matter what kind? As long as it states that it does not remove wax (or add any), is it ok?

Good question, I've used Blue Corral I think thats how its spelled. Also 3M that made little to no suds. I really can't tell the difference in most all of them. Of course someone will have a explantion about a good one.

People usally go for the highly lubricating ones, So all the small grains of sand and dirt dont scratch your finish while you are cleaning it. The Cheaper ones usally just sud a whole lot and smell nice but provide no lubrication.

Frozen how true....I was in a Wally world a few weeks ago and read a lot of labels...the only one that listed surfactants was the Blue Coral...not saying the others might not have them, but it was the only one list....

But I don't use them anyhow;)

the nice smells and huge amounts of suds usually throws people off on everything but they really dont provideo to much lubrication.

Carwash soaps are very important. You want one that can lift the dirt and allow it be removed without scratching. You also want a product that will provide a sheeting action upon rinse off to avoid water spotting. You want high lubricity. Lastly, a product that will not cause streaking and rinses off really well.

My personal favourites are Meguiar's #62 Carwash Shampoo & Condtioner. Followed by Meg's #00 (less foaming and better for wet sanding) and Gold Class in that order.

I too like the Meguiar's #62, and if I were washing a lot of vehicles, it would be my choice. However, for my personal vehicles, my favorite wash is Sonax Gloss Shampoo........... very slippery stuff! The mitt seems to glide over the surface with no effort! Plus the fact that it indeed does leave a "gloss" after washing is an added bonus!

I use the Gold Glass Stuff Now I tried P21S Body work shampoo but it was just to expensive and GC is alot cheaper and widly avalible.

I use megs Gold class and 00. I like 'em both. I usually use GC if the car is really dirty or due for wax. 00 right after I wax.

I like the platnim wash and i only have one bottle. That has lasted me months. I just don't do that much "washing" anymore. The plat was is great for washin upp vehicles too because it contains some sealat.

I picked up some Blue Corral tonight, because I was way low on soap. I started to get the Gold Class, but on the label it mentioned that is "conditions" the paint. I'm not sure what that means other than it may leave something behind after the rinse. Many other products also claimed to leave a shine or gloss after the wash. As many high quality products as we, the forum, use on our vehicles, do we want some cheap shine agent left behind on our vehicles (over our PB, UPP or Trade Secret-protected finish)? I say no out of common sense, but I don't know.
