    Re: Coating overload!! Which one???

I ended up winning the CQUK kit from here on a contest. So I used that and topped it off with Synergy and it has lasted well so far.

    Re: Coating overload!! Which one???

Any coating is going to look as good as the paint is was applied to. My personal favorite coatings, from an aesthetic stand point are Black Label Surface/Paint Coating, CQ UK and Gtechniq Exo.

From a protection stand point, all do an admirable job.

From an application stand point, Black Label Surface Coating, DP Paint Coating, Optimum Opti-Coat and Duragloss Enviroshield are all extremely easy to apply.

From a duarbility stand paint Optimum is reported to last as long as the paint itself and I have seen it still working past 3 years.

I really am curious how long OC Pro lasts, especially me having a black car I always want a great coat!

OC Pro is claimed and seems to be lasting 3, 4, 5+ years. Based on the current data and the claims of Opti have no reason to doubt that OCP could last “forever” / 10+ years. (Basically the life of a paint system)

My comment about not re-doing it every 2 years is based on the fact that most other "coatings" are claiming and having approx 2yr +/- life span before they need to be redone. Most of these other coatings will wear away in that time very similar to how a wax wears off over a few weeks / months. Only these coatings do it over a much longer time period.

The other thing to consider is that even with the best wash technique and setup the chances are that over time you will get some marring or swirls. With most all of the coatings this will be very minor and not bad enough to need / want to redo it for a few years. With OCP since it is an additional layer on your paint the chances are that all of your swirls & marring are in the coating, so as you polish it away you are removing coating not paint. Once it is clear again you can simply add a little more OCP to protect your investment. This would hopefully take your yearly full exterior detail down to once every few years at most.

I`m interested in the Pinnacle paint coating. However, some of the reviews haven`t been great. I`m not saying it`s not great - I`ve never tired it - I`m just going by what I`ve read and videos on You Tube.

So, I`m sure it looks great. But, how does it handle water compared to OC or CQ? Anyone with some durability time with this coating yet?

The one guy on AG with the Tesla didn`t seem to get a whole winter out of it. Now, this could be user error - dunno.

Which is tougher, the paint coating or the surface coating from Pinnacle (on paint)?

I`ve been using a Subaru Forester for durability test and it`s been 181 days so far and the coating is still on there looking great. I`ve been meaning to post an update. Will do asap.

Thanks Vega. I`m getting some body work done to my DD next month and want to coat it after with something.

I`ve flip flopped so many times between Pinnacle, OC, & CQ...

Now, I`m leaning towards the Pinnacle, because you are able to top it and it seems to look great.

Any idea of the shelf life of the bottle? Is there a seal on it and a use by date once seal is broken?
