Getting a new Vette - long road trip - help!

OK guys I come to the fountain of knowledge for your opins....I am ordering a new C7 Vette and have a dealer friend in Columbus Ohio that can get me one, they are sold out everywhere. So I`ve gotta drive it back in early November from Columbus to Fort lauderdale- 1200 miles. So how do I protect the front end? Bras are not avail yet and I do not want to do a clear bra. So here`s my thinking and please add to it.

    1. Plastidip the front end - I`ve done it before - works good but looks a bit industrial which I don`t mind. Like this:

    2. or painters tape like this:

or OC 2.0 or a sealant like 845 and just wash it after a days running

    advice?

    Congrats on the car.

Here is what I would do for the trip.

Specialized clear bras and paint protection film for speedways, auto cross, road trips...TRACWRAP protective film

    http://www.ezshieldpaintprotector.co...ction-film.php

I have not used either but guys in my local car club use these for track days

You could also ship the car there is a company called cat express. Ask for Seth and tell him Jeff sent you. If you are interested in shipping he does open and enclosed shipping. PM me and I can introduce you.

Thanks - but kinda expensive vs my options above. This is a one shot trip. I don`t need it again when I get home. I`ll have the Chevy bra for future trips by then...

although I did watch the youtube and understand it is stronger so maybe I`ll consider it..

and after I add the TSW Nurburgrings:

Just be careful with plasti dip. Google and read. Also check youtube. Some say I can damage clear coat. I have no first hand experience using it on paint. Just read also before you spray your vette.

    What color did you get?

Painters tape, I know tons of show cars that use it all the time. Fast, Easy and safe for the CC.

I have clear plasti-dip on my SR for protection. It looks ok, protection was great but it`s a pain to get off. I had to use car-pro trix which in essence broke it down to a more psychically degradable level. The stuff really bonds tight to the CC after a couple of months. Wheels are ok but if your unexperienced with it and just application an removals I`d stay away.

Also plastidip is only effective with multiple coatings. IE, 4+ layers, especially for the front end. You will probably go through about 3 cans of more for the whole front. If you go any less it won`t be as effective and will break down upon removal which is a real PITA to say the least.

    Glen-

Have you considered this as temporary protection while traveling?

Yup I did, a few so-so posts from pople who tried it had me less than excited...hard to get off vs PD that peels quickly......

I`m gonna use the film and pd on the car, pd on the curves and the film above on the flat

    Thanks guys!

I`d ship it. November sometimes means snow for us here in Ohio! Heck, I can remember trick or treating in a snow storm!

I know.....but I have a car that has to come up.......and I don`t mind driving or staying in Columbus with my daughter until roads are good...the advantage of being retired!
