    Paint System Help Needed

I just bought a new 2012 Black Cadillac CTS Coupe. Yes, I went for another black car. Anyways, I am looking for a good paint system to apply to this car to keep is looking good and lasting. For my past 4-5 cars, I have been using Zaino products, but I feel its time for a change to something new and better. I didn’t feel their products were as good on my last black car. I do have a PC buffer, but don`t feel I really need it right now as I do not need any paint correction as it is a brand new car. Just looking to clay it and apply whatever system that is recommended. I see Pinnacle, Wolfgang, Black Fire, etc.

Anyone have an opinion on a good system to use for my black beauty?

    Thanks in advance!!

I`ve been using Poorboys polishes, sealants and waxes on all my cars and customers cars.

On a new car, clay to get the car clean and apply PB EX-P then top that off with Nattys Red paste wax.

I`ve become a Blackfire guy. Clay it, deep clean it with BF GEP or, if you are ambitious, finish polish it for max gloss and BF WDAFPP or BF Crystal Seal. Top with Midnight Sun for that little extra.

own two black caddys one a 2011 black raven, and a 2012 ctsv in diamond edition. you will find both paints really soft and mar easily. almost all sealants and protectants are good these days.

Yes, mine is Black Raven as well. Anything I can do to help prevent the marring?

I have been very happy with the Blackfire line for my black 12 mustang!
This past spring I clayed and polished using the TP&S then topped WDAFPP...then after my weekly cleaning I top with either the BF Polymer Spray or Crystal Seal....

    1. always use two buckets and grit guard. try to swipe and lift rather than rub. use wet/dry vacume as a blower and dry the car with that, not towels (even micro fiber) if you have the time put a ceramic type sealant on it first. 4. use a more durable wax than a beauty type one. ie collinite 845. 5. dont go to the washless method with these paints unless a necessity. i use paint cleansers a lot to get rid of rids and bring lustre back. ps 21, or any good brand. this doesnt remove the protectants as quickly. 6. just get used to being anal and careful with these. the reward is awesome for all the work. ps i just sold my dream car the cts v yesterday. downsizing and got a new chevy cruze ltz loaded. same car just 418 less horsepower. ha ha

Proper wash & drying techniques. Todd had a post on touching paint today.

The other thing you might consider is a coating like OptiCoat or Cquartz. They add some scratch resistance but are not scratch-proof. You would want perfect paint and there is a slight learning curve but isn`t really that difficult.

Ok... So I`m going to give Blackfire the nod. Question I have is which Lake County pads should I use? White pad with GEP? Red pad with WDAFPP? Gold for for Midnight Sun ? Thanks for you help.

    Good choice!

BF GEP - black, (light polishing) green or white (if your paint is hard). Try black or green first.
BF WDAFPP - red or blue
BF MS - red, blue or gold.

yeah, what mike said ! even though the car is new, you`ll be surprised how much the bfgep will help prep the surface after washing & claying. you`re gonna love all the blackfire products.
