Question Opti-Seal vs. BF Crystal Seal

Since BF Crystal Seal (BFCS) is fairly new, does anyone have experience with both. Both Opti Seal and BFCS are "wipe on and walk away". I have used Opti-Seal but not the BFCS. Just wondering?

Re: Opti-Seal vs. BF Crystal Seal

I haven`t used the latest Opti-Seal but have used last year`s version. Both are super easy to apply. I slightly prefer the "look" of BF Crystal Seal but that is a preference thing. IDK about durability comparisons.

Re: Opti-Seal vs. BF Crystal Seal

I have the previous version of Opti-Seal an BFCS. I find I had more trouble with applying Opti-Seal compared to BFCS. BFCS is the easiest product to apply I have found. Overall I prefer the look of BFCS over Opti-Seal but I have not done a true 50/50 to see for sure. Durability is still in the testing phase for me. At this point Opti-Seal has been down graded to my quick wheel sealant.

Are you using the foam applicator? I changed to a MF covered sponge (like I use for the BF CS) and found it much easier.

I have tried both foam and MF applicators. For paint I prefer a MF applicator as well. On wheels I prefer a foam applicator.

For some reason on paint I still get some streaking. I usually prime the applicator and then use 1 spray per panel or less depending on how far I can spread it. I have been though half a bottle and can`t seem to get the application perfect with Opti-Seal on paint. On the other hand UPGP and BFCS I have no trouble with at all.

Microfiber applicator did the trick for me. I use one similar to what`s pictured here Ultima Paint Guard Plus Clearcoat Paint Sealant Car Wax It is nice and thick so it`s easy to hold.
I have both BF CS and Opti-Seal and I can`t really tell a difference in looks or application. I just use whatever keeps me in the family. If I use ONR then Opti-seal, if BF rinseless then CS. Same with spray and wipe products.

Durability is about the same for me on CS AND UPGP. CS easier to apply. Depth after two coats: UPGP gts the nod - more "hard candy" like....

Re: Opti-Seal vs. BF Crystal Seal

I would say both Opti-Seal and BFCS are very comparable with a slight advantage to the latter. Less streaking and deeper look on dark colors. MF applicator and hit it with a clean MF towel after to knock down high spots as you would with Opti-Coat and the streaking is greatly reduced. Cool temps help too. I use Opti-Seal on light colors and save the BFCS for darker colors due to the cost/ounce.

Two spritz to get the pad primed and one spritz per panel. I would test my MF app on glass to see how much product I had on the pad.

Done 7 cars with CS.....exactly my method too! Work the single spritz per panel in, rather than spraying more...I always do two coats , an hour apart....

Doesn`t BF say that you can get 40 applications out of 4 ozs.? So 80 apps out of an 8 oz. bottle? Sure sounds like a misprint.

I don`t know about 40 (unless you are doing all Smart Cars or Fiat 500s) but I would say 15-20+ isn`t unreasonable. A little really does go a long way.

Re: Opti-Seal vs. BF Crystal Seal

I just did my white vw with Opti Seal 2 coats spaced a day apart. Then I topped it off with CMW. It`s a 2008 when I pulled into my friends driveway he wanted to know if I bought a new car. It looks better then the day I bought it.
