Sorry, I did not see these products at the Autopian Store... Will research a couple other places and see these things for the first time..
All I ever knew about was the Opti-Seal Spray that has been around for what - 10 years ??

They are specifically sold through the opti-coat store or from an authorized dealer. Opti-Seal still seams to be the recommendation as well especially during the curing time frame during initial application.

Are we actually regressing using coatings instead of waxs?

    I’m back.

Tried some coatings. Wasn’t super impressed. Can’t see spending a ton of money for 30cc of a coating, special toppers, applicators, prep products, wipedown products, primers, special soaps, single use towels, special boosters etc... to not be totally blown away.

To get everything you need to install and maintain a single use coating may cost several hundred dollars. Application is more work than regular LSPs.

On the other hand, you can get regular Collinite or FK for <$50 and use it with whatever you have on hand

Personally id never use a coating. I like waxing my car. I dont want something thats going to be around for a year. Nothing beats that freshly waxed look. I like having a small collection and choices too, i dont want some mini 4oz bottle thats one and done either.

crunchyblack- Well, you sure got a lot more than 4oz. with that FK1000P

Heh heh, and here I`m all about the FK because I *don`t* want to wax regularly and because it often does last at least a year for me! Despite our differing goals, I sure hope you`re happy with that big tin of FK1000P.
