MONSTER MASH - a crazy OEM wax mash-up

So I figured it was time to have some fun with a portion of my wax collection. So once again, I tried an OEM mash-up with Extra Carnauba, and this time I added.... Sealants (gasp!). I`m glad to report that it worked! So on to the fun!

The paste waxes (more-or-less equal parts):
    PS1S
    Natty’s Blue
    Lusso Oro
    Rainforest Rub
    Beauty Shine 486 “Blue”

Here`s what the waxes looked like. That Dodo panel pot is well worn, so definitely not 30ml, maybe 15. I`d say we have 4 beauty waxes, a workhorse, and whatever BOS is.

The sealants. Two tablespoons of each, shown here with in the jar along with the waxes. That`s PNS in the spoon, still foamy. These are GREAT, not-too-expensive sealants IMO.
    Sonus SFX-4
    Sonax Polymer Net Shield

The liquids. This time, I added absolutely no oils or solvents. You typically need to do this when re-melting paste waxes because some solvents get lost in the steam. I decided to exploit the solvents already in these runny liquids rather than using my own. And who knows? These may have helped. Shown here in the jar.
    Natty’s Blue Liquid
    Pinnacle Spray Wax

    Other:
Raw carnauba. The amount shown here, whatever that is.
The bulk of the contents already contained carnauba. My thought was that if I add more carnauba, the end result will be a very-high-carnauba-content wax with sealant. Can`t beat that!

    Melting & mixing.
I used low heat, just enough to get things started. The oily P21S was last to melt and integrate, which you can see globs of in this picture. This is just prior to adding the carnauba shown to the right.

I had a lot of dissimilar chemistry going on here, with organic and inorganic ingredients fighting each other. Once it was mostly melted to the point shown here, I stirred the mixture for no less than 10 minutes.

When everything was integrated into a mint-green milky liquid, I decided to pour.
I had just enough for the three pots. 100mL or so. each.

I had doubts that the sealants and the waxes would integrate, but they did appear to at least stay together during the pour. Look at the strange circular pattern in the cooled product.

Every time I have made a wax, either one of these mash-ups or a recipe from scratch, I`m always anticipating three things the most..
    1) Will it spread decently?
    2) Will it flash and pass a finger-swipe test?
    3) Will it remove like a more-or-less normal wax?

If it can do those things, it will likely be a useable product. I`m glad to tick all three boxes. I was skeptical that the mixture had enough solvent, but it seems so. Here it is spread on part of this hood.

    Passed the swipe test!!

    And removed with relative ease!!

What doesn`t surprise me is that it LOOKS GOOD. I`ve never made a wax that didn`t look good after removal. But I HAVE made waxes that didn`t flash (never cured), or were like crayons. The last wax I did was too oily and it never set up, but it looked fantastic, until the first rain or wash, and it was GONE. With the copious amounts of carnauba AND some sealants in this wax, I expect decent longevity.

OK, go easy on me, I know this is a total nerd-fest.

Wow, very Mad Wax Scientist of you. That paint looks super shiney. Great job!
If I tried, I would probably be in a Wax Museum... as a wax figure on what not to do. I’m no scientist, that’s for sure.

Please add me to your wax-o-mix contest.

    Thanks!

Awesome thread and great fun to read your write up!

If you have not already looked into the Forensic detailing chanel on Youtube and his vlogs about wax making and a ton of information too. It`s worth to look into. He have made a review of a really nice wax making kit and sorry don`t remember the name of it. Can be a problem if it`s not sold in the US but maybe they can ship it. Seems to be a great first kit to mix up your own blend of wax. But your monster mash wax seems alot of fun to do!

If I`m drawn as the lucky winner. Remember that I live in Sweden and if you think that the shipping charges is to much just draw a new winner. I can ad some to the shipping charges if it`s possible.

Yeah that bloke from Forensic Detailing Channel is a hoot. I`m sure his recipes are fine, but they are just that: recipes. While I`ve certainly taken cues from all the info out there, I personally don`t get much of a kick following a verbatim diagram. But it`s all derivative.
The only thing I`ve ever created on my own that I thought was unique was a carnauba spray wax, but it was difficult, and you can just BUY some Optimum Spay Wax, or many others, and have a superior product. It`s really all about the journey and not the destination.

It`s a good looking wax, super easy to use, buttery smooth, with some cleaning ability. I`ll use it whenever I need a cleaner-wax. It has average to better longevity, and is (was) a huge value. However, I don`t think they are making that variant any longer. It`s not on their website or Amazon any longer - they just have the pink wax now. I contacted them about the blue "418" after recommending it to a friend, but no response.
