What`s bug/bird/tar remover doing to my wax?

As I was removing the nightly bug collection from the front of my car after returning from a cruise-night a few towns over, I started wondering what, if anything, is the PB bug squash (3:1) doing to my wax. Then looking at my shelf of product I see the bird sh$T remover and tarminator spray can (still my favorite for road tar) and an old bottle of turtle wax bug & tar remover.

So what`s your take on the effects of such cleaners as we approach maximum night driving bug season around here. Add another late season layer of wax? Breakout the 845? Charge up the forward deflector shields? Stop driving? Keep doing the same thing I`ve done for the past couple of decades and not think about it?

spray on bug squash (agitate if necessary), high pressure off...then dry with spray wax...seems like a good plan to me

my friend drove home from texas to south Carolina and he sprayed bug squash on his front end and then high pressure rinsed it all off

I know this because he thanked me again, just like he did last year when he made the same trip and I gave him some bug squash for his freshly detailed ride

as far as what effect it has on the LSP,,I always say, when in doubt, add more LSP!

Agreed. Definitely worth adding more wax or sealant after you are done cleaning it. It would at minimum reduce the protection some.

Mooser- I`d just switch to a LSP that doesn`t get compromised so readily...by the bugs or the stuff used to clean `em off.

I only need to use my 1Z Anti-Inzect on vehicles that I haven`t switched over to FK1000P (I just don`t worry about bugs/bird-bombs on vehicles wearing that), and yeah I occasionally need to reLSP if I let the 1Z dwell too long, not that it`s ever actually *stripped* the LSP.

I`m gonna switch to trying ONR as a spray and wipe when I get home and see if that`s enough to remove the bugs. Hopefully I can avoid having to "touch-up" the LSP until it`s ready for an actual wash & wax.
Accumulator, damn it, I might have to breakdown and try some FK on at least my DD and see what it`s like but I still like megs 22 on the old vette.

Mooser- Heh heh, I can`t flame you for the M22 since I`ve always used stuff like Souveran on my Jag

But yeah...just NOT HAVING TO CARE about getting stuff off the paint right away is great. Be careful you don`t get like me and start thinking that a good hard rain gets it plenty clean enough Man, I haven`t washed the Tahoe since forever but nobody outside Autopia would think it needs anything at all.

Be careful with that ONR (and [INSERT my usual "I prefer IUDJ" lecture ] ) lest you cause some marring. Whenever I do clean something off between washes I end up using a *LOT* of swabs and at least two MFs...and a whol lotta time. Heh heh, more time than some folks spend on a regular wash!

M26 gets a lot of use on the older stuff around here as well
I wanted to try the IUDJ back a couple of years ago but the shipping up here to Ontario was simply out of the question. Maybe when one of my snowbird friends can act as a courier next spring

I have the poorboys bird sh remover. (it works well)

When I use it I always follow it up with with a quick LSP.

What`s it doing? Removing everything beneath it from the bugs on down.

I don`t have any proof that it is removing the lsp. I spray more lsp Just as a precaution I guess. I figure it can`t hurt.
