storing paste waxes so they do not dry out

I recently picked up some paste wax. Is there any concern about it drying out ? Does anyone take any extra measures to keep it fresh? I did put the top back on tight. (screw on top) Thanks

I put my tin into a sealed baggy and leave it in the basement at 55 degrees constant temp.

Yup. Don`t let it freeze. Beyond that room temp/cooler and no UV.

The baggie idea is a good one. Anything you can do to keep air out and away from temperature extremes is a good idea. I keep mine indoors in my closet. I also do the same with my coatings.

I have a mini fridge to store mine in.
Some of my waxes are 9 years old and they are just like new.
I do store my collection of Megs 16 tins in zip lock bags.

What does the zip lock bag do to help maintain the wax / sealant?

Re: storing paste waxes so they do not dry out

I`ve never seen my garage below 42 degrees even in sub-zero outside temps (6" insulated walls and insulated doors), just bleeding house heat keeps it that warm. I asked my cat and he says he`s always comfortable in his straw box.

During the winter, I keep some of my most expensive products in the house in a dark closet but I leave a ton of less than high dollar waxes, liquids and polishes in cabinets in the garage. Some of the waxes have been there for a decade, they still look like new. I went through all my products this summer and threw out a bunch that weren`t bad but more the ones I thought I`d never get around to using.

This all said, I`ve never had an issue with any of these liquid or paste waxes going bad. Had some polishes separate but they always re-combined when I shook them up and they work fine. Many of these products are PoorBoy`s products and I think that`s a testament to the product. The temps in this garage probably swing 45 degrees from low to high. I have no doubt that putting jars in a sealed bag would further insure there integrity.

Supposedly keep it airtight, since it`s similar to paint can, and doesn`t have a rubber gasket like a lot of other jars.

You could send it here for storage and periodic quality control testing

I have an idea that I gotta remember to try for the airtight wax storage.
My wife is always tossing those nice plastic coffee containers.
I`m gonna stack my paste waxes in one.
Wonder if the FK1000 tin will fit too.
