Speedyprep causing Marring... Ideas?

It doesn`t happen all the time but every once in a while I get some serious marring from my speedy prep fine grade wash mitt.

1. I let it soak in hot water, all my wash buckets are always hot.
2. Pre rinse with W99.
3. Foam and wash with cg citrus wash n gloss + super plush chenille wash mitt
4. Foam and wash again with cg citrus n gloss + speedyprep fine grade wash mitt.

What can I do to avoid this, like I said it happens rarely but it`s still unacceptable to me.

My one Idea was mixing in onr in the wash bucket?...

You may want to use their Glide lubricant, it helped me reduce any issues. For soft cars ONR/Soap won`t be the best lubricant.

I have heard of a big operation leaving their mitts in ONR solution ready to go. IMO if the car needs a nanoskin mitt it should be polished with an AIO after to remove the minor marks (pretty fast).

I have seen guys use soap as a lub for clay while that maybe ok I feel that it just does not work for the Speedy Prep towles and others alike.

I would highly recommend ONR, IUDJ, Nanoskin Shock or glide, or any clay lube.

I have heard that soap/soapy water can ruin a polymerized rubber Nanoskin???

I use ONR on the Prep towel and the surface. Make it "wet" & lots of lubricity.
I personally have not used Glide but like Woob said I have heard it helps a lot.
If I`m doing just a wash, clay & LSP I may consider using a Ultra FINE clay bar.
I personally haven`t seen any marring that I can attribute to a Nanoskin towel.

I had an issue with the Speedy Prep Towel and had an opportunity to speak with one of the owners of SM Arnold. He indicated that soap and water is a definite no go. While the marring is not desirable it`s not too big a deal if you plan to polish it out anyway.

I have occasionally had the same issue with certain cars. It isn`t a real big deal to me because I never clay a vehicle that I am not going to at least use an AIO or a polish to remove the marring. That is one reason I do not offer just a clay and wax package. There are too many instances where there was enough marring that a wax would not take care of it.

Thanks guys, I will switch it up. I offer a clay bar and wax package, it just "ugh" when you have to suck it up and do a quick polish to pull out the marring.honestly it`s maybe an extra 20 minutes worst case. I`d highly recommend that package as not everyone wants to opt for a polish, especially consisting the price difference.

Try using ONR or Nanoskin Glide as a lubricant!

I am usually the first to use soap and water by the way, but only on vehicles that have light-to-moderate marring that I will be polishing away. For the best surface protection, always use a clay-style lubricant.

I would think that a hot speedy prep vulcanized rubber towel would be the last thing I want on my paint. It would probably get too grabby and that would cause marring...
Doesnt the directions say to avoid hot surfaces with it ??

I have been using the SM Arnold version in Fine for years, since they first came out, and the best slippery lube I found that I liked was Dodo Juice Born Slippy Clay Lube Concentrate... it works great.

Maybe it just me, but I don`t even touch a car with clay or nanoskin unless I am going to be at least polishing it.

I`ve had this mitt for a while, I`m ordering another soon... This time around no soap contact. This ones conditions will be almost the opposite, Luke warm water, clay lube only. I will change it up on the old one as well and see if there are any differences. I`ve ran through about 30 or so cars with this so it`s about time anyways.

I definitely will! I want to get to the bottom of this.

Also worth a note or two. All times I have been using light pressure and the paint that has marred has always been soft or above average roughness/orange peel.

Toyota and Lexus paints really marr compared to most.

Lexus Obsidian black will mar and scratch by just looking at it...

That is not normal or a Speedy towel problem. It is the paint.
