Quality MF`s that won`t break the bank... Asking for the impossible

You get what you pay for and I have learned that this is definitely true when it comes to MF towels. I`m looking to add some better towels to my collection but am not wanting to break the bank. I`m specifically looking for towels to be used for the following"

    1. Rinseless washing - I am currently using CG EcoSmart and want to try some GD IUDJ (if I could get these towels in green that would be a big plus)

    2. Compund/Polish/Wax removal/buffing

    3. A couple good drying towels

Any specific recommendations would be greatly appreciated or even things to look for in different towels for different functions would be greatly appreciated. e.g., 70/30 vs 75/25 or 80/20 blends, towel weights, silk bands, and nap lengths for different tasks.

    Thanks,

Microfiber towels generally come in one of three types:

    1) Chinese made/ Chinese manufactured- This are the lowest priced microfibers and unfortunately they are often the lowest quality. They may work well at first, but car washing and chemical exposure tends to quickly shorten their life.

    2) Korean made/ Chinese manufactured- These hybrid microfiber towels feature Korean fabric but are stitched and manufactured in China. The benefit of the higher quality fabric is immediately noticeable and becomes more noticeable after several uses, washes, and chemical exposures.

    3) Korean made/ Korean manufactured- Pure Korean microfiber towels are considered the highest quality microfiber towels on the market and renowned for their durable fabric and long lasting construction.

My personal favorite list is pretty simple-

Rinseless/Waterless Washing- Supreme 530 or Deluxe Jr 600
Polish Removal- Supreme 530, Artic White, or Sonus Der Wonder
Drying Towels- hands down the Guzzler series

Re: Quality MF`s that won`t break the bank... Asking for the impossible

I, like you, spent money on the cheap towels before I knew what a good towel was. I bought a big pack of Eurow towels, they are a little thin and are a 75/25 blend I think and a weight rating of 300 GSM. I use these for the initial wipe of wax but am now relegating them to wheel duty. I found some on Amazon that are CG and are blue in color with silk edge for just over $15 per 3 pack. They are rated at 550+ g/m2 and are 70/30 blend. Although I haven`t used them much I like them for quick detail sprays, final wipe of wax. I will probably even use these for the initial wipe as well. I also have some of GG speed shine towels and like those as well for QD sprays, they are a little thinner than the CG blue towel but are super soft. I have no ratings on the GG SS towels. I just bought a big pack of some Eurow 350 GSM towels with the idea of using them for rinseless washing using the Garry Dean method but have not been able to try them, too cold and too hard to get garage up to temp.

Hope this helps and hope you find what you are looking for. The following are a copy of links you may find interesting. The first is a question I posted a short while ago. The 2nd is a thread on towels that users have posted pics of there towels and the different ones out there. The 3rd is a MF chart.

I agree with MicroTech and Chemical Guys. Both are the same, so the only thing to consider is price, shipping costs, etc. I prefer 70/30 blend if its going to touch the paint. The others wheels, wheel wells, engine, etc.

    Those don`t lint - MFT 530 towels.

Stick with Korean made towels. Better quality for the money. Believe me. I have a small fortune in towels (literally) and I`d buy Korean over a Chinese towel any day.

I have not heard of a Korean "brand". The Korean manufacturers sell to resellers, usually in container loads, so you just have to look at the resellers country of origin information.

A few years back Viking brand towels had mostly been made in Korea then became made in China. I contacted Viking (Schroeder & Tremayne) and they said the cloth was the same but just cut down and finished in China. Cloth finished in China will say made in China. Some junktalk people will dismiss will dismiss "Made in China" towels but one need to know the full story. Import laws usually require labeling based upon the last "substantial transformation".
