    Mild Detail Clay Suggestions

I`m going to be helping a friend detail his car and it`s a black BMW. I`d like to keep any marring down to a minimum so I`m looking for a mild detail clay. Two choices that come to mind are Sonus SFX Ultra-Fine & Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay.

Is the current Sonus Ultra-Fine the same formula/grade as the old "Sonus Green" people used to rave about?

    Are there better choices?

I think all fine clays are the same due to patents.

I think that`s true to a degree, but I think people have experienced different results depending on the type of paint.

I`m not sure if Pinnacle`s Poly Clay is the same exact clay as the Sonus Ultra-Fine, so I`m looking to see if there`s an overwhelming suggestion.

Sonus Ultra-Fine is my choice. It is great on soft paints like my Honda.

All clays that are made for sale OTC are mild. If that`s what you are looking for Mother`s or Megs is a good choice.

These are clays that will not induce any marring, as long as the car is super clean.

Just make sure that you knead the clay as you move around the car and you will be good.

BTW I`ve owed two jet black BMW and worked on countless BMW with my detail biz.

    Is the GREEN still available?

I thought I had read it`s been replaced and people weren`t as happy with the replacement.

No Sonus Ultra Fine and Pinnacle are different formulas. Completely. All clay sold in the US is sold under a patent (this is true) but the formulas can be extremely different and custom made to specification.
