In the Spring I plan on taking care of some hideous swirls with 3M SMR, should I still use a paint cleaner like Pinnacle Paint Cleansing Lotion (PPCL), Klasse AIO or Meguiar`s Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner afterwards? If so, which one would be recommended?

I generally use a paint cleaner, as the 3M SMR will not remove all the embedded grime, etc The PPCL or Klasse are good choices.

I use PPCL after FI2 or SMR. It gives a finely polished surface for the next step.

    By hand or machine?

What sealant are you going to use?

SMR by pc, paint cleaner likely via hand...

Sealant will be Liquid Souveran or Zaino.

Machine applied, normally only do 3M Imperial Hand Glaze (IHG), Kalsse Sealant Glaze or waxes by hand.

I can`t recommend a hand polish. I got visible marring from every polish I used as evaluated under 1400 watts of light. I was so angry when I saw this that I drove 90 miles the next day and bought a PC!!

Yes, I have a pc. model i think is 7424, 6" with various speeds..

So you`d only recommend using paint cleaners (Klasse AIO, PPCL and MMPPC) by machine, puterbum?

OH!!! I read it wrong! Sorry, 100% my fault!

Nope, I had fine results with the OLD PPCL by hand....the new stuff is going to be shipped to CMA for a refund! I hate that stuff compared to the old formula.

I use AIO by hand but will soon be trying it by machine because others have reported excellent results. AIO will fill its own marring, I was just being paranoid . . .

Whats wrong with the `new` ppcl? Thats what I was leaning towards as my paint cleaner...

I`d prefer something without fillers and non abrasive. I believe AIO is very minutely abrasive and seeing as I plan on using a sealant, I`d rather stay away from fillers.

The new PPCL is more agressive than the old formula. The new forumla has a chemical smell, and leaves visable marring.:down

All this talk of all these mild cleaners leaving little marks here and there is making me want to just splat some glaze on my car and follow that up with some silicone wax and declare victory over swirls!

Should I try Klass AIO, Meguiar`s Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner (MMPPC) or something else?

David, your opinion is it true the PPCL is different with more abrasive than the old formula?

    Thanks

I also noticed some marring when I used PPCL by hand. I had much better results when its used with a PC....
