Use latex gloves with the textured fingers that get fairly tacky?

I would not use a holder, you need to always be kneading clay in your hands anyway so if you got butter fingers its gonna bite you in the ass eventually

Maybe you could lay a towel down under your work area. That way if you drop it you can do a quick inspection and likely there isn`t anything it picked up that will do any damage.

Your post makes it sound like you are using an entire clay bar at once - no need for that! Most clay bars on the market can be cut into thirds - use only a third of the bar at a time. When the innevitable happens and you drop it, it`s not such a shock to the wallet. It is also easier to handle the smaller piece...give it a try.

I place the new bar on a plastic food bag and cut into three pieces using an old credit card (works well).

Excellent suggestions, I will try the textured rubber gloves with a smaller piece of clay bar.

I highly agree that you need to feel the clay working, so the holder thingy is out.

Thanks very much for the helpful Feedback and advice... :

I find their only good for if you got a big job ( dealer lot = many many cars with over spray to clay ), but for your own rides forget it and just be careful of not dropping it on the ground. Don`t feel bad it happen to me over a year ago on a Lexus and I drop 4 bars on the ground ( sad day  )
