My washing regimen and foam gun use

I use the two bucket method with a foam gun on garden hose.

    I start off by:

    -Rinse

-Foam gun with whatever soap I have laying around in the gun (armour all now)

    -Rinse again

-Proceed with two wash bucket method and dry.

My question is, am I wasting time here since I`m just letting the suds from the foam gun sit for a bit then I rinse it off and proceed to do the hand wash. I guess I`m not too sure what the proper way is to wash with a foam gun here!

    Thoughts ?

I`m sure there are other options but your technique is exactly what I do.

I let the foam dwell for awhile to get off any lose crud. Then rinse and do a 2 bucket wash.

I foam dry with my awesome IK foamer 9, I don`t pre rinse... I feel the soap becomes too diluted if I pre rinse, and if I do pre rinse, its because there are CHUNKS of "sh_T" on that car. lol. Not sure if it truly makes a difference.

I foam the car, let it dwell, rinse then foam while running the mitt over the paint. Haven`t touched buckets in years

This is what I was thinking.

Why can`t I hit it with the foam gun. Rinse. Foam again. And then hit it with my sponge and rinse ?

I don`t see any reason why not. Bear in mind the way I do it, which I learned from Accumulator, uses a lot of soap and water though.

I don`t pre-foam anymore, didn`t find any benefits that i could notice unless I plan on scrubbing something(rubber trim etc but I just spray APC and that does the trick). Only time I use the foam gun is to do the Mike Phillips Aggressive wash method prior to polishing a car or if I want to be extra careful I`ll do the foaming and mitt gliding simultaneously as mentioned above . I used the technique to maintain my black SUV years ago and it worked like a charm every time, it is time consuming since i do it veeery gently.

Did you get the small foamer as well? Curious if it blows away the Kwazar, I need to place my order for the iK today!

    Kwazar foamer = foam master
    IK foamer = foam cannon

I love them, more than any foamer i`ve ever used. lol

I like foaming the car because in some situations, it just looks cool, I never really notice a real good benefit to it, but its just a preliminary rinse for me, I feel that some soap dwelling can loosen or soften some caked on road debris.

Re: My washing regimen and foam gun use

I haven`t used a foam gun or even a traditional bucket wash in quite some time. Forget the foam canon. Wastes too much water and is a hassle. ONR weekly washes have taken over. Much more eco friendly for us So Cal drought folks.

But this is what I do when I used the foam gun.

    Rinse
    Foam
    1 bucket wash
    Rinse
    Dry with DP car Dryer
    Competition Ready Team 1929 Bentley
1999 Silvermist Metallic Pontiac Grand Prix GT
2002 Arctic White Chevy Camaro SS

Seems like I`m just wasting time and not doing it right with my rinse-foam-rinse method.

There is no wrong way to wash a car, unless you do it like the dealership.

The Guz likes to save water.
    Others like to use water.
    I like somewhere in between...

Don`t let us tell you how to wash your car man, I am sure you know what you`re doing and have been keeping your car in top shape.

Yup. Doing my part. Also neighbors reporting neighbors for a hefty fine is not a good thing.

Oh it`s mar free. All three black cars are. I was just wondering if I am utilizing the foam gun properly or not

It would seem like a waste if I wasn`t.
