Coldest Temps Using A Coin Op Power Wash

Last weekend I did a PW at 9AM 17* F on a sunny morning not much wind. Shocked that water did not freeze on contact. Could have done the wash at 10* F with little icing. Moved the car aimed at the eastern sun and wiped the windows down, the roof, rear bumper, 2 door jams and drove home to warm up.

Anyone done a PW below 10 degrees F?

was this at the coin op on Willard next to 7/11 ?

If I want a clean car and get the road salt off I don`t have a choice. When it gets below zero I don`t bother. Been 3 weeks since last wash and looks like Friday I might use the coin op or may even splurge and run it through the touchless.

Just did one the other day with air temps at -10F. I`m sure the windchill was -30F and driving 70mph on the freeway probably even lower. I wash the cars alternately each week in winter.

the one off the Berlin Tpke. They use warm water. We usually don`t get to 0* and if it does just wait a day or 2.

I`m impressed. You guys are better men than I. I`d buy a new used car before I washed one in temps in the 30`s. I am a dedicated puss.

The ones in MN are all enclosed with heaters (usually IR). However, I find most will close when it gets too cold because the doors start to freeze up. It`s usually warm enough in there during the winter than I wash in just a short sleeve shirt, since you`re moving around a lot.

Usually 20-25F is the lowest for me, otherwise the water droplets freeze on the drive home. OP, I would recommend not mechanically drying your car after just a HP rinse/wash. There is a lot of grime those can`t get off that a towel will swirl into the paint. Best is to just get it home wet, then do a rinseless wash. I realize that`s like double the work, but you will thank yourself at the next detail session.

I have a coating on my car so it cleans up well. I should have said I blot dry some panels with a MF. There is no grime on the hood nor the roof but may have some on the doors/bumpers/quarter panels which you can readily see. With all the salt/sand on the roads now I don`t do RW/WW`s just PW`s which is good enuf for me. Its not the temps (down to +10 F) so much but its the condition of the roads.
