Hi all!
I was wondering if I could grab your help in telling me what this corrosion/buildup is on my rims and what I can use, if anything, to repair it.
Thanks!

Looks like oxidation/corrosion of the aluminum from underneath the clear coat. This can be caused by slight "holes" in the clear that allow caustic wheel cleaners/brake dust to penetrate, or because of the porosity of the aluminum. Either ways, sadly, it cannot be fixed. The clear has to be stripped and the wheel refinished...
From what I can see from the pictures Todd is right.
Thats unfortunate. Thanks for the replies all. Any idea how much it is to refinish or is it just better to buy new wheels?
Formerly the "Best Detailer", now just Super Wax Waster Man. Not necessarily tactful, but normally right. It`s good to be da King !!!
Pretty cheap to refinish rims ...think something around $75 bucks around here in NY
Talk to some reputable body shops in your area and they can tell you who they use to resurface rims
I have used an Alloy Wheels Repair facility in Washington and they were fabulous !
Always made badly damaged, scraped, etc., wheels perfect again...
You could never tell where the original damage was - they were that good..
The cost to refinish all 4 of your wheels will almost always be a little less or right at the cost for 1 new medium grade wheel... Its a win-win...
Good luck with this..

Thanks for all the replies guys. I talked to a friend of mine yesterday and he`s gonna help me sandblast them and paint. Should be fun. I`ll post pics.
