I was worried about a spray on coating like permanon or hydro2,
wonder if this might protect the rotor some from it

This is an interesting product. But really to me it seems to be an answer to a question / problem I never had or worried about. As soon as I move a car and use the breaks the problem is solved.

The friction of the pads on rotors will remove the coating ASAP. So I don`t worry, and have never had a problem.

    Good to know, thanks Troy.

I remember years ago when I put too much grease in a fitting and it got on rotor, the brakes locked up with the lightest touch. (exactly the oppsite that youd think)

This is a good investment for those that have black wheels. I have the same issue with the black wheels that I have. After all that hard work and you see something like this.

This is not my wheel but I get the same thing.

Driving the vehicle to remove rust dust isn`t always an option for detailers.

    That`s my wheel.

I`ve always had the rust dust issue if I didn`t dry the rotors with my metro immediately after finishing washing the wheel, caliper and wells then wipe over it with an old MF towel to be extra sure. So I`m curious to see if Hyde`s works as well as it seems to.

I took that pic and sent it to Hyde (He`s actually a fellow VW owner) on the VW forums saying "I hear you have a fix for this" back when he first launched the product asking him some questions about it. I`m still yet to test my bottle though. Maybe later today if the weather is nice.

    In stock: Hyde`s Serum Rustopper

As mentioned- With some large rotors and wheel designed, even driving the car to clean the rotors can result in each enough rust dust that your hard work is ruined.
