    Fan shroud

    Hello all,
I have an 1978 Trans Am ( I know it`s not the high end cars most talk about here) but I love her and want to make it look as good as new. Anyway the fan shroud is in good shape but tired. I have given it a good degreasing and want it to look factory new. I DON`T want to paint it, Any suggestions on what to use? thanks for any help, Robin Bailer Destin,Fl

How does it look now after you have clean it?

I have used 303 Protectant on plastic in the engine compartment with some success. If its badly faded Adam`s In and Out works pretty well but its effects are temporary. Just be careful to cover the radiator etc when you spray it. I recently ordered some Muc-off product that is supposed to be more permanent for faded plastic.

I would look into a dye. It will make it look great once it`s done.

The plastics under the hood of my 77 Olds 442 have faded so that`s why I suggest this. If it`s not faded then a protectant would be good. I like UTTG or 303 is good too

I 2nd the dye, but if your against painting, I wonder if a product like Poorboy Trim Restorer would work better than a dressing?
Btw, all vehicles are welcome here. The super cars and exotics are apparently the new flavor, but don`t let that stop you from posting pics or writeups of anything.

The `77-`78 Firebird`s are SUPERCARS, IMO! Eastwood company used to make/sell a nice vinyl and plastic dye kit that looks amazing. 3M Bondo also sells a trim dye that works well (and lasts a long time).

Thanks, for the information the shroud has matte and gloss areas on it I guess I`m not opposed to dying it if it makes it look factory correct. Also thanks for the positive comments on the T/A. I`ll post some pictures later today.
