    Wheel cleaner

There are a few wheel cleaners that advertise safe on all wheel types. I have tsw strip black rims with a polished lip. Would i just be better off cleaning them with soap and water or is there really wheel cleaner out there that is rim friendly to the rims i have?

I think P21S is safe for everything, it`s PH neutral. I`ve used it on various rims and never had an issue. If they aren`t really dirty I`d just stick to whatever you use to wash the car, once they are clean, if you wax and maintain them, you shouldn`t need to use a wheel cleaner at all (the dirt will wash off with car soap).

A sealant or a high temp wax will help repel dirt and brake dust. Your wheels get pretty hot, so a standard carnauba will get worn away pretty quick.

I would feel confortable using the P21S (or P21S Gel even better)
Make sure your rims are cool before applying any cleaner or water.

I use a WOWA (wipe on walk away) sealant on my wheels that are stock clearcoat rims.

I don`t use the P21S all the time, soap and water does a great job unless they are really bad.

I would say I use the P21 after the wnter and when they are bad. The P21S will take off the sealant for sure.

    All good advise.
If the wheels are covered with a good amount of break dust, then by all means, use a good ph balanced wheel cleaner such as P21S Gel. Once they are cleaned, you should seal them with a quality sealant that will withstand the heat generated by the breaks. There are a number of quality products that you could use on your wheels. Some of the products that you will see a lot of the forum members are:
    Wheel Wax
    Blackfire Metal Sealant
    Optimum Opti-Seal
    Rejex
    Collinite 845IW
    Poorboys Wheel Sealant

These are all good products that will help keep the break dust and road grime off your wheels. They will not prevent the wheels from getting dirty, but it will make them much easier to clean the next time with just soap and water.

    I hope this helps.

As long as the product is ph balanced, your wheels will be safe.

Have to agree with BMW here. As long as the product has a neutral ph, it should be safe for all wheels. I myself have used some 3M Tire & Wheel Cleaner which does a really good job IMO. I got some CG Diablo and Adam`s Green Wheel Cleaner to try out later on. A coat of wax or sealant applied after cleaning should reduce the need for using a daily wheel cleaner such as Gtechniq C5 or Prima`s Wheel Armour comes to mind.

When using a wheel protectant, how do you apply it to the wheel cylinders without removing the wheels (not really an option for me)? Does it make sense that one protectant / wheel wax may work well on one make of wheels but not another?
