looks cool but my initial thought was "hydro2 is easy enough" and hydrofoam is easier considering I have to wash them eventually anyways

interested in seeing some reviews on this - I don`t know how I feel about an aerosol application

I have mixed feelings on the aerosal as well. It does make it easier to apply but I do not feel you will get an even coat and you are getting less product.

I agree 100%. It`s going to be pretty hard to be the ease of use of Hydro 2.

Looks pretty cool! I just watched the video....if the water beading/sheeting is anything like Polymer Net Shield, this should be a winner.

    Re: New sonax rim shield.

What if it IS Sonax Polymer Net Shield in a different can ???
Why not use this same product on the wheels anyway?

I still have Optimum Coating on my wheels and they never get dirty, and certainly no brake dust either..

If you really want to get those beautiful Silverado Wheels done correctly, it will require you taking them off the truck and Detail them perfectly, and then apply a Coating if you really want longevity..

Re-reading your post, it looks like you will not really want that kind of longevity...

Agree 100%. I use PNS on my wheels and like the results.
I also don`t like the aerosol application, so I apply to MFT then apply to wheels.

I really can`t see this as a big seller. Hydro2 and the multitude of wheel coatings would be better choices. How does the excess spray that goes onto the tire do when you use a tire shine product? Seems like it would cause problems on the tire. I`ll wait until I see actual reviews from Autopians.

According to the video the overspray won`t cause any issues. But I agree with you on this will have a hard time competing against wheel coatings.

    Re: New sonax rim shield.

I would always want to spray it on a an applicator - foam or whatever, and apply it that way, so as to not get it on anything else but the wheel..

There are a lot of choices here -
The new Sonax Wheel Trim product - the new kid -
The Sonax Polymer Net Shield product that works great.. Sprayed on a microfiber towel, etc..
Rejex Paint Sealant product that works great, applied via a towel to wheels..
And others I have no experiences with..

    Re: New sonax rim shield.

6 WEEKS? BIG DEAL. totally unimpressive given the choices out there that are much better. Some I have used are:

Permanon last 6 weeks (barely) but it a spray on hose off application.

Opticoat gloss coat has been on my Subaru almost 2 years, paint and wheels.

Rim has been on my DD Since February and still going strong.

Super Sport-best looking of the bunch but it will be removed by wheel cleaner. It actually makes my stock rims look better. PA is great at that! If you use soap and water to clean the wheels it lasts longer but not more than 3-4 weeks.

    Option 2.

Akebono ceramics, far better. My wheels after 8 weeks are not even half as bad as oem pads after half a week!

    Re: New sonax rim shield.

I`ve used Sonax Wheel Rim Shield twice now. Does it work? I can`t really tell. I wash my wheels (factory silver painted clear coat) every week or two so they don`t get that dirty. I couldn`t honestly say that they are easier to clean. If I notice my wheels are harder to clean after I finish the can and stop using it, I`ll update this post in a few months.

At $30 a can I can`t even justify buying it again. I tried it one time, with two different vehicles. And it didn`t do anything for me.

    Re: New sonax rim shield.

How do you keep such stuff off the brake rotors?

And yeah, it *can* matter...I was utterly amazed when QD-strength IUDJ significantly compromised the braking of a vehicle before it (quickly) wore off. I wrote "quickly", but just backing out of the shop and pausing at the end of the driveway didn`t do it, took a real STOP, which too far longer/farther than I`d expected.
