I have a spare tire on my Jeep Wrangler that is always exposed. I want to protect the tire, but I am not really interested in the shine. Does anyone have any recommendations for such?

I`ve put natural look on spare tires that are exposed on the back
it just gives a slight sheen, never tried DG or HD mentioned above but probably great choices as well
what about something like optiseal? would that work
Buy a tire cover. Unless you wipe the dressing over the entire tire since it is 100% exposed.

^good point. didn`t think of that

I believe Mother`s sell a no nonsense tire conditioner. Don`t know the name. Sorry.
Tire dressing isnt protection, its just an oil or some crap that washes off in the rain. Just like an interior dressing isnt really protecting anything from the sun.
For protection you need a tire coating, like Tuff Shine. And even then it may not actually protect anything.
Blackfire Total Eclipse tire gel is another good one that is not to glossy. I would consider McKee`s 37 tire Coating and just coat the tire as it lasts much longer than a tire gel.

I think Ron nailed it, a cover. Of course you want the tire to look good if it needs to be used so there is still the dressing/protectant.
Dave
The cover would need protection too.
Thanks for the suggestions! A cover will not work as I have a license plate in the center of the wheel which I am not willing to relocate. I would most likely cover the entire tire with the protectant.
life is short ..do it while you can
