UPDATED - Quick Engine Detail with BLACKFIRE Waterless Wash + CarPro PERL

Needed to replace the coolant reservoir tank this weekend (bad coolant level sensor) so I ended up cleaning up the engine bay.

Here`s the new clear tank next to the old black one.

    Greasy intake manifold.

Decided to use BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash Concentrate (New Formula). With the 1:48 dilution ratio, it would only cost me $1.56 to fill up the 48oz sprayer at the current $24.99 price tag on a 16 oz bottle of concentrate (before any discounts or coupon codes )

I used the 48oz Chemical Resistant Pressure Sprayer. The low spray pressure on the widest spray pattern gave me confidence I wouldn`t be injecting water or waterless wash into any sensitive harnesses under the hood.

    Before removing the coolant tank.

    Removed.

    Replaced. I should buy gloves.

I used PERL to dress up the engine bay. Undiluted. I`ve been using this stuff for years under the hood and I`ve never had a problem with it. I`m confident the next time I pop my hood, all the black plastic, rubber and vinyl will look just as good as the day I cleaned it.

    Much better!

I had to run to the Auto Parts store to pickup coolant, so I ended up picking up an oil change kit while I was there.

    Thanks for reading!

I really like BF`s lineup. I`m going to have to try some of the waterless stuff.

Great work Vega. Glad to see you getting your hands dirty to repair your car. (Mechanic here)

Wouldn`t have thought to use a waterless wash to clean an engine bay.

Boy, I sure haven`t been paying attention. I had no idea the dilution ratio had changed.
Used to be one of the more expensive options for WW. Looks like that has has been fixed.
The devil made me do it the first time.
The second time I done it on my own.

    6/19/2015 UPDATE

ALL of these pics were taken after opening the hood without wiping anything down.

This is a 19 day update. I know it`s not too long but I had to pop my hood yesterday evening to install a new K&N air filter and I figured I`d snap a few pics of how good it still looks.

CarPro PERL is still making all the black plastic and rubber look amazing under the hood.

CarPro PERL was used undiluted. No greasy look here as everything is dry to the touch. Although you can see some surface dust, I wouldn`t say it`s attracting dust like other dressings would under the hood.

Great job on the engine detail Ray!

Quick question, did the dirt stains get removed when you washed the MF towel you used to clean the engine bay? These towels will be used as dedicated engine towels right?
