Engine detailing

Found a really good 2 product approach to it.

1. First clean and degrease it with DP ENGINE CLEANER. What sets it apart is it is safe for all finishes under the hood.

2. Once dry, finish it with SONUS MOTOR KOTE. This will leave a great satin finish that will last on the engine. Less is more here. A few sprays. let it sit. 20 min later do another light coat. DONE. DO NOT WIPE OR TOUCH IT.

Follow all directions on the 2 products and you engine detail is complete.

I have been using Amazing Roll Off (diluted) and Sonus, It also works very well. Definately love the Sonus as I have used it on my frame, hitch and wheel wells also.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will add that to the list once I use up the Meguiar`s D4510 that I am currently using.

Did all four on my truck, the fronts are plastic liners, rear are painted steel. Sprayed and walked away. The only drawback of Sonus on non heated parts is that it seems to take forever to dry.

Glad you guys like the Sonus MC. I couldn`t bring myself to use mine before it went bad, too paranoid that it might turn out blotchy or I`d get overspray someplace I didn`t want it. I`m doing OK with my "basically gott redo at every wash"-type treatments, figure I gotta go over everything to clean and dry it anyhow. Note that the painted bits (firewall, fenders, rad support, underside of hood, etc.) are all polished and LSPed like the rest of the car anyhow.

I really like the Sonus. I normally use Autoglym engine and machine cleaner though. Have not tried the OP`s cleaner so this is not a comparison.

I use the Sonus on the painted bits under the hood as well on DD`s. Make maintenance cleanup a breeze.

rdorman- I use their Tire and Trim Guard on some underhood stuff, and that works OK too.

I *am* glad the MotorKote works well for you...I just threw money away letting it sit around until it went bad (gee, I hardly ever have stuff go bad, but that did).
