Dwayne, I don`t think either one of them would buy their trucks again. One has had a bunch of warranty problems and much of his dislike hinges around the way the dealer has taken care of him. He got a truck that came out of the factory without any oil in the differential. It went bad within a day or two of owning it. The truck was so new it took them a while to get replacement parts. He later had some injector problems. Ultimately it hasn`t cost him anything other than aggravation and time, just left him with a sour taste. The other neighbor is an eye doctor and money isn`t his primary concern so mileage isn`t a huge deal. He likes the power, doesn`t like the mileage but said he liked his Lariat better.

Re: What color should this truck be? Help me choose!

I cast my vote for the Bright Silver Metallic. I really like the way Mrs. Clean`s Silver Reflex Turbo S paint shimmers in the early morning and early evening light. In the bright daylight in can be blinding. My second choice would be the Bright White follwed closely by the Mineral Gray.

I will throw out an additional point for consideration regarding the body style choice. You seem to be thinking only in terms of passenger capacity. IIRC you are something of a fisherman. As a long time hunter/fisherman I can`t tell you how important it is to be able to know that your sports gear is "secured" in your locked vehicle while you step in to the local cafe. Not to mention keeping your luggage out of the elements when you take a road trip.

Bed size? Short or long? Will you be doing any hauling? No you say? Then you`ve never owned a truck Everyone you know and some you don`t know will have something they need moved. And as a homeowner you will find plenty of things that need to be hauled for your own purposes. I can`t imagine not owning a truck.

All good points. I`ve previously owned 3 trucks. 2 Chevy Silverado Ext Cab and a Dodge Dakota years ago reg cab.

I failed to mention that if I go this route intend on getting a one piece fiberglass lockable tonneau cover to keep the fishing poles and luggage safe.

Well then you aleady know how many "truck needy" friends you have. And you know just how darned convenient they are to have in the drive.

The hard tonneau covers do look nice and serve well as lockable "trunks". They are heavy though and add additional polishing surfaces and are a definite PITA when you need to haul something for yourself. I have considered a soft/roll-up tonneau cover option for mine. I also opted for the Bedrug over the spray in or drop in liners. (though I`ve yet to put the danged thing in...and don`t think Mrs. Clean hasn`t made that same observation when she passes the box in the garage...

Will you ever have to haul anything tall in the bed? If so the one piece tonneau will be a royal pain. I would seriously suggest looking at one of the folding covers; they`re much easier to deal with in that scenario. I`ve got a Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite on mine and I`ve absolutely loved it.

Also, have you considered what sort of bed liner to go with?

I looked up the G4 Elite and that looks pretty cool. Most of the Sport R/Ts that I`ve seen have the factory spray in liner but you can get it without as well.

Guess I`d forgotten Dodge was offering that now. I`m more of a GM truck guy and they don`t have a factory spray-in option.

Definitely go for the Deep Cherry Red.

I`m kinda partial to red myself. 3 of my last 4 vehicles have been red.

It looks like Deep Cherry Red is starting to run away with it.

I was looking for some good videos showing it off but they were pretty generic.

I was leaning towards the blue but of course I will want to line up a few different colors and Deep Cherry Red will be on my shortlist.

Nothing look as good as Black and a master detailer like yourself would have no problems keeping it looking good.

I have 3 Black vehicles and if a old man nearly 80 with a bad back can keep 3 looking good you should be able to handle one.

I say you go with Pearl Black. I think it matches the truck just right.

Black looks really nice. I think it looks better on the SLT with the chrome up trim.

Deep Cherry Red with chrome wheels would look just perfect, absolutely perfect. I tend to be a bit partial to the deeper reds but I just can`t quite put my finger on why.
