The closest you can come to a "Quality"compresser in that price range would be at Sears.com.

Thanks Rabel: I did go to my local Sears and found a two stage max 175 PSI with a 25 gallon tank for 399 this weekend.

Just curious, why do you need that high of a pressure rating? 99.99% of all your air tools are designed to run best at 90psi.

what he said....175 psi is extremely high and most hoses and such have a 150 psi rating........

FOr compressors check your local building center....for basics and pricing....then shop online...shipping online will be way more then local tax so shop wisely...

    Good luck

If your looking for the top of the line Compressor, Ingersoll Rand is the only way to go. 175 PSI is standerd for a two stage pump. A 80 GAL IR compressor will run you $1200

I had a 2 hp that would max to 120 PSI (smoked it) but it often would not break the lug nuts lose. I could purchase a 150 max much cheaper at Lowes or Home depot but I did not want to chance still not being able to do the job. Now if I need the pressure for shot blast I have it. You are correct that most recommend 90 PSI so play at your own risk.

    Thanks for you response.

BTW: I purchase the Sears compressor.
