Looking into finishing some wood furniture with an automotive clear 2pack, I have tried some woodworking specific oil based & 2pack polyurethanes & if you rub too far you will see the witness lines as the layers don`t join together. Do automotive based clears that are urethane behave the same?

With wood working the clears I use they don`t spread out evenly due to surface tension from sharp edges & usually thin out randomly near edges, so no matter how I do it, I usually end up cutting through the layer near the edges right before its ready for a polish. People say your sanding too much, but its needed to get mirror flat. This wouldn`t be a problem if the coats could merge together like traditional finishes do, but I wan`t the toughness of polyurethane.
