    My 2013 GTR

Just picked this up today. I own a car dealership and do a lot of my own detailing (I`m not a big dealer and don`t do "volume details").

Grabbed this GTR for myself for the summer and hopefully can make a few bucks with it.

It Had a hideous blue stripe on it and was filthy dirty. Only 8k miles but the previous owner was a real idiot about it. Paint was fairly contaminated as well.

All I did was wash the car with Ardex extra foamy car wash, clay bar the contaminates with Meg`s clay. Just in time, I received my order of Meg`s m101 and CarPro reflect today. So, I hand rubbed some seriously contaminated spots with the m101, then followed that with a full polish using the carpro reflect, an Ardex blue polishing pad (light cut, manly polish) and my Mikita rotary. Last step was a coat of Ardex gold supreme wax.

Really brought this car back to a super car. And I`m sorry I don`t have more pics, I will soon. My shop needs more lights, I`m actually kind of embarrassed to post the pictures here . Anyway, here is goes:

    Before

    After:

Better lighting and before and after next time, I promise.

If you`re going to buy a car just to flip in a few months might as well make it something fun like that one!

One of the benefits of having a car dealership, its a dealership owned car so I believe it doesn`t show up as another owner on the car`s record correct?

I`ve been thinking of finding a good way to flip cars in the future so I can do things like that and make a little money on the side with it. Plus it is just fun to have a new to you car once or twice a year and not have to worry about too much maintenance.

The car business can be very unforgiving. It`s not always so simple to just buy a car and sell it for more money. Finding cars cheap enough to leave room for profit can be brutal, finding customers to buy your cars can be even worse. There is a lot of competition.

However, if you can take your lumps and still survive while learning in the process, it can be a great business. I love cars, I love what I do, and I feel lucky that I may actually get to own and drive this car, and make some money in the process. I am very thankful for it. But, it is a very stressful business.

Your question about carfax is correct. This vehicle was only driven by the owner of a local Nissan dealership, and the title has now been reassigned from his dealership to mine, so technically it is a 0 owner vehicle.

See the stupid blue stripe and the blue eyeliner around the headlights in the before pictures? What the hell was the guy thinking whoever did that? Did he leave the shop after having it done thinking that it made the car look better? I`m so confused by it. To each his own I guess. Luckily it`s not his anymore.

Ahh someone who has heard of Ardex. I live right near the factory so their stuff is ultra ultra ultra common around here. I grew up with this stuff.

They have a pretty large lineup of products. Some very good, some ok, and some bad. Their waxes are great, their APC is hands down the best I`ve used, as is their car wash. Their buffing pads are good too, I am pretty sure they are made by LC and rebranded for Ardex. However, their compounds and polishes are for volume work like dealerships and high volume shops. Mostly fillers and oils. Cars look great at first but they don`t stay that way very long.

That`s the trick, buying the car cheap enough to make a profit on it!

When I purchased my current car a dealer had taken it in as a trade in but it remained on the lot for 7 months before I put in an offer and the dealer ended up taking a loss on it because he just wanted to get rid of it. I see cars identical to mine being sold today for $5K more than I paid for my car when I got it. I`ve thought of selling it but this is my first convertible so I`m going to hold onto it I while.

Now if only I can find as good of a deal on another motorcycle I`ll be set! Wife had me sell the bike to get the car and with summer approaching I`m beginning to miss the bike a bit more.

Yep. A lot like Care Brite and Auto Magic. Love their chemicals and paint sealant, absolutely HATE their polishes and compounds. Some companies just refuse to believe that the industry has ran off and left them in the stone age I guess.

Well I`m not sure they care considering they still hold a HUGE share of the detailing market. I`ve actually been told by other dealers that when you buys meguiars compound, that you`re just paying for the name.

WOW. I wish I could find a consumer based that was so blissfully uninformed.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I`m gonna set up some better lighting next time and show off some more of my work. I always love to get advice and try new things.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. It wasn`t my twist.
