    Carpro Fun

On my DD, I went all Optimum so decided to try going all Carpro on the other DD, a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT in Carbon Blue Metallic.

    Products used:

Strong solution of Dawn and OPC
    Carpro IronX Gel
    Strong CG CW&C
Clay substitute with Dodo Juice Born Slippy
    Carpro Eraser (1:1)
    Carpro Fixer
    Carpro Eraser (1:1)
    Carpro Cquartz

Unlike my 2011 Hyundai Sonata, the paint was definitely on the soft side. (It was lightly marred with the clay substitute - a first for me with Born Slippy.) I had polished it out in on Memorial Day so was in excellent shape with only a few light RIDS & virtually no swirling.

    Fixer

I was intrigued by the claim that it was a kind of "universal" polish and where you just changed pads to change its cut so, even though I have multiple lifetime`s supply of polish, I bought some. My plan of attack was to hit the hood and RIDS (fairly) hard with 5" Megs MF Cutting pads on my PC (on 4.5) and finish out all with a 6" gray pad on my GG6 (on 4). This really worked out well with Fixer. It cut fast on the MF pad (generally only 1 section pass needed) and finished out probably LSP ready. On the gray pad, the finish was nearly flawless.

Only thing to be wary of is overworking and letting it dry. It can be a pain to remove. I found following up with a no-pressure "regenerative" pass or 2 fixed that and it wiped up with little effort. Some dusting but way less than M105. I really liked just swapping polishers on the fly as necessary and using just 1 polish (and cleaning MF).

Completed polishing in 3-4 hours (not counting lunch and visiting with out-of-town family (it was NYD).

    Cquartz

Got up this morning and turned the heaters on in the garage to get it to ~65F. A couple of Eraser passes and I applied Cquartz per the instructional videos. All I can say is "Wow!" Looks like it was dipped in glass! Insane gloss and darkened up the paint slightly. Very easy to apply. Only used 5-10ml. There are already many positive reviews of Cquartz on the various forums and I agree.

Unfortunately no befores (only 2 hours of water on Sunday mornings makes that tough - @#$% water restrictions) or in-process.

Glad to hear that you like CQ. I have it on my wife`s VW Jetta. Please keep us updated on how the durability is over time.

    Dear Michael

I can`t imagine that the car looked any better when it rolled off the assembly line.

That`s a ridiculously wet gloss on your car.

    Mucho wow factor.

    Thanks for sharing.

Very nice I`m not sure if I will ever use a coating on my personal cars, I enjoy trying new products too much! What are your thoughts regarding applying and slickness of OC vs CQ?

Thought that, too, but the added scratch resistance - especially on the softer Tiburon - pushed me over.

They both feel more like bare paint than a super-slick sealant. I`ve only had Opti-Coat on my other car for 2 weeks and haven`t had to wash it yet. Noticing much less dust accumulation so far though.

Will likely top both of them in a month or so. OCW on the Sonata and Reload on the Tiburon. There could be some experimenting though, too.
